got my dads mate to take it out today and we followed him in the car he had it upto 75mph and said it still had a bit more to give but he said it didnt seem to run quite right he thinks its either not getting enough air. also he thinks the cluth needs looking at as it dosnt bit till the lever is nearly all the way out so im going to book it in for a service and check over soon as i assuming it will need a new clutch as we had a play with the asjuster on the bars and it made no difference

Make sure the clutch is adjusted for you not for dad's mate (different riding style/experience 'an all that),keep
it bog specified then adjust to suit you.
'an speedos on older strokers can be a little flexible on true speeds, take that into account when otr on bigger
mph roads as a 5-8mph different to a copper excercising? fairness 'an you getting a ticket, esp. where they set
up zones to trap people who are.......motivating. :D

yh the clutch is a bit dodgey as i took it for a quik blast up the road and you cant change gear fast as it dosnt bite for ages

Not taking the 'p mate (done this myself) but is it switched on/do you have a stop switch as well?,
Run you off a checklist (bearing in mind it's age/components-ign system),:-
Check cap (inner resistor o.k./plug "fit")
    H.T.lead (cheap to replace)
Check all your wiring secure/connected / proper, may have a short.
    Ignition coil could be mullered!
    Test your c.d.i.
    Not running p/mix ?,plug-whiskered??
    fuse?,
You'll undoubtably encounter ign.issues if used
on too many short trips..always best too give it a
good long blast on occasion in ratio to short.mark.

You'll need multimetre (to check resistance) and works manual for parts operating specs.

you never use a multi meter to check if a cdi is working. the low amps/current that a multi meter lets out can fry the unit.
