running problems

aup i have a yamaha aerox 50cc with K&N air filter and a race exhaust and im nt sure about the carburetter screws how far in / out they should be it runs atm and when im riding it i can only open the throttle half way if i open it any more it just slows down and losses power and makes a low gurglin noise ....... please can anyone help is it air/fuel mixture ? or is it somthing too do with the carburetter ?????? :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray: :cray:

did you upjet to compensate for the open filter and exhaust, if so post the size of jet you took out and the size you put in.

im nt sure what it is because i gt it off a m8 and he dnt know but the the origional main jet is : 86 but nt sure if it is or nt ??? ... thanks for the reply

It wont be your mixture screws causing this, this will be main jet

if you havent upjetted for the open filter (as Guns said) it will be running far too lean....also you havent mentioned if youve fitted lighter rollers and stiffer clutch springs???

thanks il try and find out as soon as i can . cuz ive had this ped off a mate i dnt know if its gt all this stuf changed but i think its gt lighter rollers ??? wat size jet do you think i need ?? if i need to gt one ?

would it be the thottle stop screw on the carb ??

will need around a 15% bigger jet for a K&N filter and a sports pipe, along with tighter clutch springs and lighter rollers...

The problem will be finding out what, if any, changes to the set up have been done already.

15% ...
10% of 86 is 8.6
5% of 86 is 4.3

therfore their telling you to upjet by 12.9 sizes so 12-14 jet sizes higher you should try..

You will need a box of jets, not just one. You want a few sets of different weight rollers too.

Have you or your mate still got the standard airbox? Fitting the standard airbox will solve MOST of the problem, "K&N" filters adds no performance to your engine whatsoever.
