DONE!! :D:D:D i love it, dosnt seem much work done to it but if you look at what it was to what it is...

onlt rear indercators to do and a handfull of screws here and there, but they are for me to do over the days to calm me down otherwise i wont stop wantin to do bits to it

ive ran the bike, second kick and off it went (hasnt ran for a few months so was impressed)

insurance is done and got my old lid back for now so gonna make a nice plan to piss off for a catch up ride over the weekend

well m8 its a bit l8 but nether the less congrats on the project lovely homade bike there the way it should be done lol ps pwwwwwzzzz dont put stickers on it

nive work m8
Burns#66
lack of time/money/house caused the main delay, im legal now aswell but still havnt been out for a ride in a while, the bike has been scratched while its been stood and getting worked on :( got a plan to sort my shed and collect panels and get them nicely painted for this nice summer thats coming :D
nibbles#67
lol i meant i was slow to say congrats lol. not u to build it m8 . yh tbh id paint anothet set perfectly then pay to have them pro lacquered either in 2 pac a cellulose as its 100x stronger than can lacquer . when i havent lacquered bikes in the past wen i barely new how to spray they scratch SOOOOO easy
Burns#68
yeah i know what you mean about scratching easy! panels are fucked already, but the plan was to get it looking ok and how i wanted it, then buy some panels in better condision, paint them up spot on then get them laquered like you said.

im gonna have a go at molding the rear seat over so its just solid but havnt got a clue how to fibreglass, we all learn some how though ;)
nibbles#69
that sounds good to me mate you thinking of removing the rear pillion bit fromn the main seat tbh never looked at a underside of a sr seat were is the clip that connects it to the bucket is it on the end bit or further down .if u gotta fill big patches then use mesh or ice cream tubs to bridge the gaps glue them with epoxy or anything else thas real strong .then id suggest using isopon p40 its a premixed fibre glass as the strands are mixed with the resin then u jus add harder mix it very well then paste on with an old top up card or spreader .try get it as flat as poss tho m8 coz its a bugger to sand lol
Burns#70
already started work on it today, all it is, is 3 bolts that hold the pillion panel and seat in, so took it off, de-covered the seat, binned the bracket that bolts the seat to the panel, dropped the seat spronge back in the panel so its lower, then im gonna fireglass over the sponge .. if you get what i mean?
nibbles#71
yh man that sounds all gravy. just get is al flat as poss as filler is jus meant to be a skim good luck on it mate and keep us updated

do i just cover it in resin then place netting down then resin, then sand then filler and sand? whats fibreglass tissue for? looks smoother
nibbles#73
i no my dad uses fibre glass tissue when he builds ponds as it gives a smooter finish so the fish dont cut there selfes if that helps lol. that sponge has gtta be dry m8 i mean like desert dry fibre glass does not like humidity at all .also the areas where fibre glass will be touching the plastic must sanded of all paint them roughed up could even drill a few holes in the plastic where the fibre glass will touch so it goes in the holes and makes a stronger bond .i always attack mine with a dremmal cutting disc that way the fibre glass grips on better .tbh i think ull be fine putting it on the spounge im pretty sure it wont react but not 100 percent lol.

sand paint away from area to be glassed
rough area with corse paper or dremmal
dry that spounge
clean hole area thuroughly thinners is best
mix golf ball size amount of p40 with pea size amount of harder (increase for bigger amounts)
thurougly mix try not ta get to much air in there but be thourough or it wont set
spread on .id put urs on with a cheap ruler as it has a large flat area
sand down well
skim with filler try cover ya areas but keep it then
sand
then another skim
sand so alomostperfect
then fill any small imperfections with filler putty (nife stopper) can get for 3 quid at halfords
sand again then prep like normal lolololol
its longgggggg
nibbles#74
btw m8 id lower the sponge a bit lower than that as the glass will be about 4 mm thik n u dont wnna flat bit then a hump
Burns#75
think it might be best to just buy a bcd one
nibbles#76
lol
Burns#77
pulled it out the shed today and it had a scratch on the rear panel but it was like chewing gum :wtf: so the whole back end had come off and is having a make-over il get pics of where im at asap :D
