water pump on my runner

right, the lad i got it off said he was riding and the water pump exploded ( doubt it was that dramitic)

does this normaly happen?
will it be the whole pump or just the gaskets?
also what would of caused this to happen? over heating?

erm exploded is a bit of an exageration, it does involve a full engine rebuild though.

so what new bits will i need? just a pump? or is there more to it

mains seals and a gasket set wouldnt go amiss
