wow thats blurry, even without my specs on, those wires at the front are to the spotlight, function over form with this bike. intrseting little thing about it, under the back mudgurad thing there, was an oil tank (the duct tape is covering the oil cap hole) no idea why it had one, its premix, there isnt even a place for a pump.
oh yeah, it was water in the airbox, next mod: snorkle for the airbox

you can see the vf in the background of the first pic, also note the tyres, cheng shin winter tyres with studs, shockingly good grip in snow ice and wet, also work good in mud
scubabiker#24
Ok, now the big question.
Do I
A) get a chamber from america so it lasts me through next winter
B) modify a random exhaust from the spares at work to fit
Or
C) get a pitbike motor shoehorned onto the frame?
Stevep#25
A) why
B) Yes
C) Why
scubabiker#26
The standard pipe is close to rusting through, the norwegian winters are very harsh, a pitbike motor would bolt in without too much hassle as the mounts are almost identical, the chain will be the biggest pain im sure. I was thinking modding a pipe would be easiest, we have bloody loads laying around at work
scubabiker#27
For now it can just stay as it is, it should make it into spring as long as we dont get more snow/ice as the road grit is whats killing it
Stevep#28
What about getting some stainless steel from a steel stockholders and making your own from scratch?
Use a thicker gauge than the standard pipe and will last longer.
scubabiker#29
If you knew the cost of stuff here you would realise why thats not such a great idea, im gonna, make some sort of shield whatever I decide to do. I know the older ones had chrome plated pipes, but again I need to order one from abroad.
scubabiker#30
Just thinking out loud really, I do like your idea of making the whole pipe, not sure I can make the cones tho.
Stevep#31
The cones? I'm guessing you mean the flange where the exhaust meets the cylinder head?
Burridge#32
Think he means cones of the expansion chamber, wouldn't be worth making an exhaust from scratch if the winters are gonna trash it in a couple of years.
Stevep#33
yeah, just been looking at the original photo of the scoot, that kind of straight exhaust reminds me of the Honda C50, C70, C90 exhausts. Maybe use one of those and modify/remake the down-pipe?
scubabiker#34
Its a 2 stroke tho, it would run like crap with a 4 stroke pipe
Stevep#35
Thats a very good point that:oops:
scubabiker#36
i think you are right about modding an old pipe from work. im not even sure im gonna keep the tomos, my knees are really bad and i might need to get something with el start
Stevep#37
C90. The later models had elec start. Bomb proof little bike.
scubabiker#38
cant get them here, i want something cheap too, we have a quad at work that ive been eyeing up, its got a chinese copy of a minerelli ac, i know they are ok as we sell them and we have had no problems with them yet (only lack of maintenence problems!) the only problem with them is they are a little difficult to start, but thats an easy fix with a decent carb
Stevep#39
I was just about to say you can't get through traffic too easily with them, then i remembered i watched your little commute sometime ago. You don't get traffic like we do.
So really this reply was a waste of time and i should stop rambling and go kill some zombies or aliens or something useful instead.o_O
scubabiker#40
yeah, it makes me laugh here when people are like oooh the traffic is terrible... bitch please! im the one that MAKES the traffic in the morning! the quad im on about is a kymco mxu50, fun little quad to ride, easy to get on 2 wheels!
