Hey there all, well this is my first post on the scootershack, you can usually find me over on pug-club....anyways....

I picked up this nice wee baby from a friend

it has a seized engine, apart from that its mint!

Plans for it:

70cc kit,Bigger carb,exhaust,new transmission

maybe some spraying

here it is just now as it stands, and a picture of the seized piston which they were quoting 400-500 pounds to repair!

I also need advice on which 70 kit to get from the following:

Motoforce aluminium 70-£106.24

Polini Iron 70-£121.84

Stage6 Aluminium 70-£114.41

Stage6 Racing aluminium 70-£138.93

Top Performance iron 70-£112.92

Mallossi iron 70-£118.12

Metrakit iron 70-£108.22

Metrakit aluminium 70-£148.62

thanks

now now, im the only asshole allowd on the site!! LOL

thats an absoloute bargain and im sure you know it.. go for an iron kit, prefably polini for now.. strong, last forever (if setup correctly) and simple.
if your plans are somthing a bit more wacky read up a bit in the other posts ;)
Burns#4
port the area up :D

scooter looks nice, shame about the piston :(
MichaelWhiteLocust#5
Yeh i think im gonna go for something a bit more wacky lol,

ive done loads of reading up about both iron and alu kits and setups, but i just really dont want to waste alot of money on the wrong setup etc,so im just looking for some guidance from more experienced guys...

and vesta,calm your pants lol

ok... cylinders are cylinders.. good well known makes are reliable and of course cater for every need/desire from an engine. there are cheaper cylinders but most of them are shit, not to say theres not a good one here an there, its a case of askin people what they have used and liked.. theres a wealth of knowledge on prittymuch any setup from the tame to the wacky..
first things first grab a decent crank and figure what cylinder you want to run befor deciding on a pipe.. forget the rest for now.. crank, barrel, pipe are THE most important things to buy. the rest just make use of these items.
MichaelWhiteLocust#7
Right ok,good advice,il just look into cranks just now, cheers

il update later..

quite a rubbish pic but oh well,i think i have a fuel flow problem with this scoot,a new carb should sort that out right? lol
Vesta#12
depends what kind of problem you have lol, any more info ?
NJH#13
hmm if its fuel flow, could be the tap, or blocked lines or somthing?
MichaelWhiteLocust#14
Yupp sure,i bought the bike and everything was running like a dream, then a couple of months later im riding it down a hill,i get to the lights at the bottom of the hill and it cuts out!!!

i jump off and kickstart it again making sure i kept the revs up,the lights changed to green i went to pull away and it cut out again,i then started it up and left it to tick over at the side of the road for 15 mins, after this i just managed to get it home, making sure i didnt let the revs die down on the way home!

that was nearly a month ago,now it wont start at all!

ive bought a new spark plug and spark plug cover and coil, and have also cleaned out the carb....i dont know what to do next!

HELP! LOL
Vesta#15
Is it a standard 50? dont think you should go for a new carb just yet lol

Have a nosey around your carb, inlet manifold check for a rip or anything. Also have you tried cleaning your air filter?
MichaelWhiteLocust#16
Its derestricted with a leo vince zx pipe and the rollers and springs that come with it,yes ive cleaned the carb and the air box out throughly, the only thing i can think of is if the reed's are damaged?

im really quizzed about this one tbh, dont know what to do!
Vesta#17
Im currently having fuel issue's myself. I checked everything fuel related and even changed the carb without success so what i would advise you do is check yeah your reeds etc but also just have a look what colour the plug was before it went.

If you didn't upjet when you fitted the leo vinci you could have had a heat seize, this happened to me many moons ago
MichaelWhiteLocust#18
It had all the mods done to it before i bought it,but yeah the plug was burnt black...that means to much fuel doesnt it??
Vesta#19
Black wet plug indicates running rich but im not sure if a black dry plug would mean the same.

Is the plug sparking?
andrewynt#20
were about in edinburgh are you then:)
and if it has an auto choke check that.

read some were that too rich can be just as bad as running lean
check your water level also if it has went down a bit could be head gasket
