Hello there, i have recently purchased a Gilera SMT (Derbi senda) 50cc but it has a Derbi engine in it at the minute.
Basically when i rode it back from where i purchased the next morning, there was a small puddle of water on the garage floor, upon inspection i noticed there was a small hole in the engine, (very tiny) letting this water out, i realised that the temp sensor was long gone, and this was obviously the problem, so i bought a new one, fitted it and still, i am getting this puddle of water on the ground shortly after i use it.

Now is this tiny pressure outlet hole literally the size of a cocktail stick meant to be here? As this is where the water is coming from.

PS, its watercooled and i am slightly worried as i don't know to much about bikes, and i haven't got the time or money this month to take it to a garage, it runs perfectly though (although needs carbs rejetting).

I wouldnt have thought it is supposed to be there doent sound right to me, are you 100% sure there is a leak and its not just water collecting from the road ?

If it is a leak i would change for new if thats possible, a picture would help :)

Its definatley not water collecting from the road, i can see the water droplets coming out of this tiny hole, but in this case looks like a new engine, though i definately want to know if it is ment to be there.

Yeah, a photo would help. Is this hole on the right hand side of the engine near where the pipes attach to?
It could be the water pump seal starting to go and leaking out the hole that is SUPPOSED TO BE THERE.

But photo please:D

I will get a photo, apparently its a weep hole

Ok. Then if it's weeping out of that hole the water pump seal is on the way out and needs to be replaced.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BLOCK THIS HOLE UP WITH GUNK OR MASTIC OR ANY OTHER SEALANT
If you do it will eventually flood the case behind it and then you get water all over the generator windings and pick up coils and flywheel.
And then total electrical failure and nice deep pockets full of money to throw at it.:D

But a photo would be nice first;)
