Hey guys still pretty new but had such good advice in the past.
Basically i got a 180 reg 125, been told by a mechanic hes certain its a 180 head but it makes some wierd noises when accelerating and it seems a bit too vicious. Could it be the bike 180 gears? Is there anyway to check as ive never taken the gearbox out on one of these, isit easy?
Attatched is a pic of the bike and inside my transmission case is anyone can see a problem there?
Also since this cold weather i cant get her to start any tips on this too?
    Thank you

The belt looks a bit slack/worn?
While the belt is off check the rollers in the variator.
If you do not have the knowledge or equipment to do this I would suggest you find someone who does.
It's a fairly simple procedure but you'll need an impact driver electric or air.

Cheers for the advice, yeah im not too bad with mechanics im a paint tech by trade so i know bits and bobs. I installed a new variator and clutch not too long ago but did think the belt looked long, is there a difference between the 125 and 180 belts? Yeah im thinking of finding a mechanic to change the gears for me

Leave the gears until you have changed the belt and rollers.(if needed)
Chances are the rollers are worn and combined with the worn belt are causing it to "snatch" if that is what you mean by vicious.
    Belt should be the same.
Yeah I noted on the pic that the clutch(rear pulley) seems to be in good condition.
What weight rollers did you put in. If you bought standard ones or a standard variator that's fine especially as the engine is a bit of a puzzle.
Always best to start from the beginning if anyone has been fiddling with it and you don't know the history.
The belt is as important as the variator/clutch. Chances are it's not engaging until the revs are causing the variator to grip when they are quite high.

Thabk you so much for the adivce, im sure they are 10 gram rollers which came with the cariator, i did think they should be around the 12 mark?
Yeah your exactly right it does sound like its snatching and taking off more violently than what it should.
I could also do with the changing that centre roller but i cant seem to find them anywhere

Also for the belt, isit worth getting a malossi or polini one? Or just keep with the standard

Standard rollers are 7.3 to 10.7 depending on year/cc did you get a tuned variator?
Any good quality belt will do. Malossi or Polini will stand up to a tuned scooter or last a lot longer than a standard belt. Cost is also a factor lol.
If you mean the belt tensioner all that does is stop the belt vibrating/slapping so unless it's actually worn on the bearing leave it. It might be the noise you can hear with the worn belt.
It's Piaggio only part so you'll need to look on dealers sites.

No it was just a standard one im sure its from pedparts axtually, ill also change them to 10.7 grams and see if this helps and change the belt.
Also i got a snapped centre stand bolt, any ideas? A drill wont even make a mark

Just buy the correct one for your model/year/cc. Personally I'd go for a standard belt.
Just had a look at Pedparts and it would appear they list the 125/180 as different lengths so you'll need to definately find out which engine size you have.
If you are not sure just buy a standard middle of the road price belt and see how it fits and if it cures the snatch problem you are having then the next time you require a belt get a good one.

I don't know the model well enough but it's possible you have a complete 180 engine which has been swapped(check engine number) or just the top end has been swapped (if it's possible??) If it is a 180 then order engine parts for that size.
