you need to check your main jet is the right one for your setup. mixture screw only affects first quarter throttle, main jet is the important one. you can feel if its right, when you go full throttle and let off a tiny bit (like a tiny tiny bit), does it go faster or slower?

    Hi guys.
If it was my scoot I'd have the piston & cylinder off there. 30 seconds with the hone - and some new rings. A bit of a dremel to chamfer the ports - A good tush with some emery paper on the piston; a good wash - and rebuild with new gaskets. And I would replace the roller cage in the little end (for the princely sum of a tenner).
A little bit of running in and you're good for another 6000 miles.
    Just my take -

you're so ignorant, with the right maintenance and setup, 2 strokes can last ages

urgh this accyuklad kid has really been getting on my nerves!
2 strokes can and sometimes do outlast a 4 stroke, with the right maintenance they can go on for twice what a 4 stroke can, theres more parts in a 4 stroke to go wrong, its all down to maintenance. you sound like you know fuck all. £70 for a good crank? nope. nuh uh. be looking at over £100. and whatever else need doing. proof he knows feck all about 2 strokes.
word of advice lad, don't chat about shit you know nothing about, fair enough stick around, read replys from people who really do know what theyre talking about and ask questions so you can learn but unless you actually know about it don't fucking talk about it !

they only do badly when theyre not looked after, when buying second hand that's why its usually a good idea to do a quick tear down and good service. piston rings - £10ish ebay, gasket set £15ish ebay, new belt £15 ebay and clean the carb, then look after it and shouldnt have a issue. otherwise theyre just as good as 4 strokes if not better. ive had 4 strokes and only ever had one good one and that was a Chinese one. ill stick to 2 strokes, just as reliable when looked after, if its a good runner when you get it then run it on decent petrol (not cheap own brand shit) and good Castrol oil and itll keep going, regular plug changes.
