My 2 stroke Yamaha aerox rides fine until about 3/4 throttle. The engine loses power almost immediately if I throttle too much. It feels as if I shut the engine off while riding until I lower the throttle again and the engine wakes up. The scooter used to be able to reach 70km/h with ease but now it can barely do 45km/h due to this problem. I'm thinking it might be a too lean main jet but I am unsure. I have already cleaned the carb and filters. Any help?
Fuel starvation. Have the played with the carb jetting recently or changed the carb? Could also have an air leak somewhere
You're right, I did change the carburetor. How exactly do I make it not starve of fuel? I'm very much a novice when it comes to scooters and engines.
Check the main jet size in the old carb against the new one. You'll have to rejet it anyway to suit as there is no one size fits all. Start big and work down.
