Liquid cooled have more components to go wrong, and as i'm kinda emphasising on reliability, cost (l/c bikes cost more in the first place), ease of maintainence, weight (how much does a runner weigh? about 100kg's? Zip or Booster less than 80kg's ) and wheelbase because having a shorter wheelbase is better for wheelies. But yep for out and out speed l/c piaggio unit ftw
well as far as im concerned: Mina is just as tunable as piggy, in fact theres certain aspects of the mina thats more superior, for example the water pump design on the mina is far better than the piggy just so you dont think ive got rose tinted piggy glasses, or agree with everything minor says What my point is: i would go for a piggy my self A.C or L.C because theres far more people on this forum that know piggys inside out... can i ask saint johnny have you ever done a crank swap on a mina in an afternoon, like i have on a piggy L.C or are you another one of these experts who has actually done nothing them selves.... sorry was bugging me....had to be said :rtfm:
im glad you told him straight dave but theres one thing im gona say ALL mechanical waterpumps are shit, at least on a piggy the inner rotor ignitons dont affect the waterpumps. And have you not noticed the ratio difference between both mina and piggy waterpumps? piggys have a step down with a belt whereas minas are at crank speed at the end of the crank. if u tune you compromise, tuning creates lots of things one being heat so you use an electric pump which not only increases the cooling but takes load OFF the engine. There are lots and lots of reasons why piggys are shit and theres lots of reasons why minas are shit, its personal opinion of which there is no answer. and most will know my personal oppinion on minas, it dont mean im right but it dont mean im wrong....... get a typhoon mate, fucking loads of em, light, simple and cheap
Well I haven't done a crank swap in an afternoon, there you go about the only thing i don't wanna go messing about with yet due to financial constraints. But this isn't an arguement about what bike has the easiest to swap cranks, in case everyone was forgetting... and then... So yeah i'd love to be able to try a crank swap (which i might just do with my spare engine to fuck you lot off) but you are quite obviously missing the point, no self financing 16 year old is gonna have the money to put together a polini evo specced Zip Sp then spend most of his available time having to fettle with it, so well done for your reading skills there. Also at what point exactly did i say piggys are crap, unreliable, whatever? Obviously because you own piggy engined bikes you're gonna favour them, but don't pull invisible quotes out the air it ain't clever. And yes Dave thats fair enough statement more Piggy owners who know what they're talking about, but it's one thing talking on a forum to having someone there checking your bike listening for even the slightest noise that could indicate a problem so although i 100% agree it wouldn't be a deciding factor, fact is it's a sport setup we're looking at so crank swap shouldn't be needed and most problems are transmission or carb related at this stage, and as has been said no two engines are completely the same, 2 identical lumps might need totally different jetting and roller weights. So whats this kid learned off you lot? His best bet at making a 20hp + ped is to get a Piggy l/c lump, that minerelli's are good but not as good as piggys. I'd just laugh if he got a Katana now give you all something to be proud of with your obviously misguided advice cratch:
misguided advice? who the fuck are you? you little lump of spunk. your know it all attitude really fucks me off, preaching to the world about minarelli, fighting for the underdog because it makes you look different and individual? loser. im still LOLSOISOIing at your misguided advice comment, does that mean the advice we have been given is misguided? because that would mean my own experience is misguided, that daves own experience is misguided and that alex's is too, do you see where im going? the advice that they have given is EXPERIENCE, not some little internet mechanic who's only opinion is to NOT get a piggy. minarelli engines are cunts to rebuild from my experience, piggy is easy, so, being a 16 year old playing with an engine, upgrading parts, the risk of crank failure is increased, still with me? so say the crank goes, and he has a mina, NO WAY is he gonna do the rebuild himself, and not many people on the forum rebuild them either, so that means dealer, which means 200+ parts, enjoy. but if he has a piggy, and something fucks up, not only does he have a wealth of KNOWLEDGE, not opinion or read up facts like you, you little scrote, but he also has the backup of decent mechanics who could fix it for a fraction of the price. now shut the fuck up, kid, get a typh, simple pimple.
Thanks for that. Heres a few points... 1. I Don't preach minerelli, what the hell makes you say that I put more piggys on that list than minerelli engined bikes, count! 2. Where did i ever say Piggys are shit? Go on quote me... 3. The misguided advice is simple, the kid asked for a reliable, cheap and easy bike to wheelie...are any of the bikes i suggested not to that criteria...i think not. I have utmost respect for the guys who have had more experience of bikes but what was a question about good, reliable and easy to wheelie peds turned into what could be made to go fastest with thousands spent on them, you see where i'm coming from? 4. The bike i currently own has been stripped down with only the crank and gears been left as unfortunately around here experienced scooter mechanics aren't common, so anything specialist like cranks (now considering it's my primary method of transport) i don't wanna faff with. blah badi boo blah bah badi bloo blah now for my favourite song lyrics The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one Im not the kind of girl Who gives up just like that Oh, no Its not the things you do That tease and hurt me bad But its the way you do The things you do to me Im not the kind of girl Who gives up just like that Oh, no The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one Number one My number one Number one Every girl wants you to be her man But Ill wait right here til its my turn Im not the kind of girl Who gives up just like that Oh, no The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one Number one, number one Every time that I get the feeling, You give me something to believe in, Every time that I got you near me I know the way that I want it to be, But u know Im gonna take my chance now, Im gonna make it happen some how, And you know I can take the pressure A moments pain for a lifetimes pleasure Every girl wants you to be her man But Ill wait right here til its my turn Im not the kind of girl Who gives up just like that Oh, no The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one Every time that I get the feeling, You give me something to believe in, Every time that I got you near me I know the way that I want it to be, But u know Im gonna take my chance now, Im gonna make it happen some how, And you know I can take the pressure A moments pain for a lifetimes pleasure The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one The tide is high but Im holding on Im gonna be your number one Number one, number one...
when did i say you called piggys shit? go on, quote me? just because you stuck some bikes on a list doesnt change things, you are still bantering about it now. you mean misguiding advice then, because misguided would mean the advice we were given is misguided, which it quite frankly isnt. so learn english and toddle off.
apologies to saint jonny! an actual apology, fucking love it ^^^ just agro coz im hanging like mad BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK on topic buy a runner
worked on both types of engines found the minas pretty easy bottom end to assemble never tried a piggy bottom end but found them harder to work on. found piggy stuff a bit more fiddly to do. pipes etc.. both very good engines but id safely say the piggy engine has a slight power advantage over the mina, tho minas hav mechanical water pumps and oil pumps which are piss easy to service and build water pumps and oil pumps on pigs are trickier to service, if it was my money i would go for a typh or an lc nrg as ive had 6 roxes so time for a change, typhs are quite low to the deck and sit on small rims so probably better for wheelying than a rox in all fairness just get a typh/nrg mate. good peds
because i managed to sell my zip for a ridiculous price which i couldnt say no to, and i didnt wanna bodge a 125 engine in my beautiful zip
