I'm trying to adjust the valve clearance on single cylinder 4T 125cc . Problems with starting and Rickover. I have set the timing to the compression stroke but there is NO GAP between the top of the push rod and the rocker adjuster. This is the same on both ports.
I can raise the rocker arms and then set the gap while holding the rocker arm up but then when I let go and it seats again then it closes.
I'm confused. Surely there should be a gap without raising the rocker arm?
If I set it as I normally would then I can push the feelers in and when I pull out then you can see and hear the rocker click down that 1mm or so.
    Any advice urgently needed

Depend's on what you have, some engines have a small spring on the rocker arms to stop "slap/ rattle" but have the clearance!

I'm setting some on my 650bike so I'll compare and see if it's just me being dumb.
