tweak's SR125(2)

I have taken another SR under my wing and should be collecting it maybe later today, so pics and diagnosis to follow shortly...

Right here goes:

I went and fetched the SR this afternoon with wobbly, the car and the trailer. Got it back home and had a good old gander round.



































As you can tell from the pics it's pretty fucked up cosmetically. Its been off the road for a year but dry stored and is real clean (under the dust). So I checked the ignition and we had a strong battery! So then thought I'd try the lights to see if I was lucky, and they all worked, yup everything even the horn. Pushing my luck I tested the starter motor, and she turned over perfect.



There ws no exhaust silencer, just the down tube that had been left on after the previous owner hacked the exhaust off. Shot a bit of Easy Start in the carb on an open throttle and kicked the motor over hoping that it might just fire. And fuckwas it loud, she fired up a treat and so I killed it immediately so as not to damage the motor any further.















So we set about taking the damaged plastics off around the handlebars and then whipped the throttle assembly off, heated up the bent area of the handlebars and used the easing bar to straighten them up. Now it can be wheeled about properly.

All for the princely sum of ?60

All the panels have had the old vinyls removed and began rubbing down the tail piece and filling the scratches and repairing the crack on the left side. Couldn;t do much as it rained till 3o'clock this afternoon

thanks to wobbly for helping me find all the bits and spares to make the SR MOT'able within 5 days :drool:

Panels are now sat in first colour coat after the priming session, now just waiting on the few bits ordered in from scootercenter, and other sources for DH bar setup, tyres , and other little trick bits

That was the other day on the 3rd run up (brand new top end), all complete bar the rear light unit and sidepods now, but can't get pics as it's chucked it down all whole day. :msn1:
