Hi all, the transmission went out on my '07 Aprilia Mojito 125 (This has more or less the same CVT as some Piaggio and Vespa models).

So I opened the CVT case and found that the left-hand gear as pictured here-

    - had come loose. I tightened the centre nut back up and hurrah! My bike worked again! Until two days later when the same thing happened again. So my question - is this the kind of thing that can only be done with a torque wrench and the right locking tools? Or could there be another issue? I don't have a torque wrench or the correct tools to lock the gear or wheel in place.

You can get a locking tool from eBay or try Pedparts and you should use thread lock also available from eBay

Torque wrench isn’t a must if you haven’t got one, just don’t go silly and over tighten it use lock tight!
