Well as I have no experience with 70's I was going by the general 15% guide (pipe and kit) Its actually 78.2 worked out, not in the 80's :emb:
murking my thread :msn1: only joking glad my question actually got answered this time cheers dave and minor
the mixture screw (small screw) is about 3.5 turns out... but it may vary from engine to engine...for instance my bottom end is tired and the crank seals are a little leaky...which would effect the fueling...(sucking in extra air)
Are crank seals in the transmission side? Searched but no glory... Why dont you replace them Dave? And it must be very hard to tell by a plug weather or not you are running the right jet AND have the right air/fuel mixture?!
The crankseals are on either side of the crank...so behind the variator and stator plate side as well!! And the whole engine will be changed soon...im building up another bottom end
oil leaking past the crank seals...play in the crank shaft...vibration through the footboards...loss of primary compression...hard starting from cold...theres a few signs to be getting on with...theres probs a couple more ive forgotten
And big end bearing is where? Main's being? And what is "primary" compression? The only compression I know about is the tester in the plug hole, what is that testing? Secondary compression? :emb: arc: Sorry for being a pain, I love learning..
primary compression is compression on the downstroke, in the crankcase secondary compression is the compression in the cylinder or combustion chamber mains are main bearings, either side of the crankshaft big end is the bearing the conrod is mounted to, connecting it to the crankshaft.
Thanks for that, great info... And how would you check for primary compression if you suspected it a problem?
Swear this has been one of this most informative topics made in a while! most topics that get made now days are like: *SEARCH* *USE THE SEARCH* cough cough someone else in this thread arc:
nah its fine mate i learned quite a bit from this topic aswell. thats why i think topics should be left unless they really do go off-topic because it can lead to new things being learnt to members like myself that dont have much experience
not sure what u meant by that but if u did mean that it has been made 44 times this year, ok but i did use the search and no one made a topic with the same setup as me that was why i needed you because you are an expert (no arse lick) at estimating jetting and rollers to suit a setup, as ive seen in the recent 172 topics. and ive made so many topics and not one of them has had a proper answer like this so it was succesful if u ask me!
