ok cheers for clearing that up for me also I'm going to open up the variator tomorrow and double check that isn't restricted because last time I looked I didn't actually take of the front pully, and now I've been told to be able to see it you have too? Anyway if it's restricted I'll let you know what happens
So I had a look this morning and the variator IS not restricted, the belt looks really good condition! All of the insides of the variator all look clean for some reason... But I took of the front part and had a look at the clutch rollers and some of them were worn, they had like a line on them from rubbing against something.. I also made a video of me riding and showing you what I got on the bike which I'll upload later to help you help me : thanks for all your help so far!
UPDATE::: When I took it apart, the front variator wheel (the bit where the nut is supposed to be hard to get off) the WAS a washer on that part but it was before the belt, so would that be preventing top end??
Indeed, thats the restrictor meaning that the 2 sides won't be able to come together fully to allow for top end, might also be an idea to check/change the rollers if they are looking past it as well.
I'm on on about infront of the fan just after you take of the first Nut, that's the restrictor? On all the YouTube videos the restrictor is after you take off the front fan... ?
@0:32 there was no washer there, only where the nut was, which I'm sure is supposed to be there. *hmm*
have u sorted that 5mph problem yet? i had this problem and i had to turn up my idle and fiddle with my air/mixture screw (u may not have to) if that still doesnt sort it it sounds as though ur springs arnt in good nick?
Nope still not sorted... My idle is done in nearly all the way (for the winter) it seems to want more fuel in the winter... not sure why. Also my air mixture screw seems to be non-existent lol. I tried altering it but it seems it has been drilled/removed by the previous owner So I'm out of ideas. I haven't looked at the clutch yet, I was going to buy a variator kit and change out the rollers, and maybe the springs...
you mean something is in there ? probably you mean a tamper proof screw ? I think a photo of the carb might help, as the mixture in the winter does need a tad richening, because cold air is more dense and compact, but I think you might be getting mixed up with the screws.
Well no because the one screw that I can turn slows/speeds up the engine when it's not moving, and the other one, well i'll take a picture now, give me 1 minute
ur idle is almost all the way in? thats not right. id say if you have extra money just buy a new carb
I would look at getting a new carb as well, if thats what its like on the outside I hate to think what its like on the inside!
It's actually in good condition on the inside, I've taken it apart a few times and cleaned everything... How much is a tidy carb? and how do I know what one to get? Theres hardly any data for my scooter on the internet :/
