Started snowing 10:45....,fekking hate snow grrr. Peds indoors 'cept Vespa......last time I did that/was lucky did'nt light a Fag when I got up - woulda blown the house up..
If your indoor aerial goes on the fritz - just plug a power adapter into the port & bingo instant aerial..
Freed up & replaced back shoes on Vespa - felt like I was pushing an old Super dream Oil supply piping next & top speed run..
Today I changed the front pads on my YN100, checked rear shoes, washed the air filter in white spirit. She's going well, but she thanked me back by suddenly blowing the high beam in darkness on my way home from sea fishing. Any Yamaha Neos owners will testify how utter pants the headlights are anyway, but to be stuck on low beam!!! May as well have used a jam jar full of gloworms... Cats eyes were my friends tonight. Defo get a beefed up conversion headlight kit now. PS: bagged thirteen plump Mackerel on a single lure. Happy days.
Yeah.......you might have a problem with the beefed up headlight come MOT time...... They've changed the rules as far as headlights/beam/HID/LED upgrades are concerned. Basically, you can fit an LED bulb as long as the beam pattern remains as it was with the standard halogen bulb. Most led aftermarket bulbs will just throw loads of light but no pattern, hence everyone gets blinded by them. So DVSA banned them and said if they are fitted they must throw a beam pattern or fail the MOT. OR.....you can change the complete headlight unit for a specific LED one. BUT...............the easiest way around this on a scooter is to fit led driving lights down on the mudguard bolts, add a switch, and have them on when driving but off for the mot test. Also gets around the blown main beam bulb problem
Thanks Stevep, I didn't give the MOT a thought! Makes sense, also I was ignorant of the lack of beam throwing on after-market upgrades, thanks for the info. I found a bulb same wattage on Halfords website which boasted 150% more light, uv design so to be cooler within plastic housings. Looked like my problem solved albeit a price tag of £19. Typed in my registration and presto...there was one in stock for an '03 scoot. Payed up and collected it next day to find it was a three pin halogen, not the two soldered blob type which is mine. They did however exchange it for the bog standard. So I'm back at square one. I wonder though, can my magneto cope with a high luminosity led, or is just that they're more efficient? PS: I reckon the reason my low beam being so cr∆p that night was because the bulb had become completely blackened by the main beam blowing. It probably blew because my top speed has increased with the expansion chamber silencer I fitted which is turning the magneto faster, so maybe it can deal with an upgraded front light. At the end of the day, I just want to be able to see where I'm going when dark!
Your bulb wouldn't have blown because of that, more than likely just age. The LED's pull very little power. Maybe 5% of a standard bulb. The trick with them is the 'K' range of light they emit. The higher the 'K' figure the closer to daylight colour it is. Basically look for LED's that give a 6000K colour output or above.
I'm not an early morning bod... I'm a late going to bed bod! I'm a bit of a night bird. God help you all when I retire!!!
Sonofa.......... Petrol sender unit has packed up on my Aerox 100 But then again, the clocks are fubar as well so..................I'm not paying £60 for a sender unit and waiting for it on back-order and I'm not buying new clocks................. Mooched around on the shelves and found a new un-used KMPH 2" white faced speedo.............so that got fitted Then found a universal sender unit that I'm pretty sure with some reverse engineering I can adapt to fit the original Aerox sender unit housing..........................I'm not going to use the gauge in the photo as I have a digital one with integrated rev counter instead https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08DR27NR9?psc=1&smid=A10LPZ5LF5AKBW&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp
