A few preparation pics. Left seat panel filled and rubbed down ready for primer filler. First primer filler coat. Front panel filled and primer fillered.
When I took the front panel apart, I discovered the headlight adjuster was broken, leaving the light flapping up and down. The MoT bloke won't be happy with this so I made a new adjuster. I glommed a big rawlplug into the hole under the headlight aperture..... Then I used a long woodscrew and an old carb spring to make an adjuster and tensioner. Adjusted the light to halfway between up and down, and I'll take it from there. This is the front panel with the radiator grille refitted into it. I carefully sprayed the fins and left the black triangle at the top. The light is back in too. These are a few random panels. They're all done except for the handlebar panel which is still on the bike.
The long haul back.... Put the inner panels and the front outers back on. Not putting the others back yet, because it still needs tuning. I took out the old rollers (6g and a bit worn) and put the 4s which came with the Doppler in. I'm not absolutely sure on the weights, because the only place I could weigh them was on my local post office's digital scales!
Finally got my 1st go on it today. Couldn't work out why it wouldn't pull away properly, it felt like it wasn't revving out fully. I took off the airbox and ran it up and down. It was like a different engine! It's obvously starved of air. When I bought my carb, it came with modification diagrams for every airbox except mine! GRR! I need to make holes I think. Anyway, here's the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15at8QfjquM
Well, I finally got round to spraying the sidepanels and front mudguard. As far as I'm concerned it's finished. Time for an MoT. Oh and a new plate! :w00t: I'll probably sell it on after I've stared at it for a while!
all the effort payed off then px. and might i ad it's looking very very nice not like one of my scrapheaps lol
Yep nice smooth pull away, building to scary top end (scary cos the car park at work is too short :w00t: ) The pull away is little disappointing actually, I have to rev it more than I'd like to even start moving. I think lighter clutch springs are in order.I put the clutch from the Slider in it but it hardly made any difference. Once it actually starts moving, it accellerates really well.
ahh good unk: . yeah sounds like you want softer springs then should be how you like it. only problem when having softer springs the revs will take a second or two to build up.
Yeah, but hopefully the extra torque from the 70 kit will compensate for that. I'll keep you posted.........
