Yeah, it's a shame they didn't make it as two separate holes instead of one long one. I'm hoping the drill extender I bought will fit under the cases. Funnily enough there ARE two holes on the casings which look as though they were meant as stand mountings for another model of bike with this engine. If all else fails I'll use them as anchors for a new stand mount.

Or give in and get a Buzzetti :emb:

Well, it took a week and 6 drills but I got through! I now have a centre stand!

My carb has come. Need to work out where all the pipes go and I can start it up!

This is my Malossi 21mm carb. My best guess so far is...

Red=Large pipe connector on inlet=Vacuum for petrol tap?
Green=small connector on inlet=thin pipe coming out of oil pump?
Yellow (one on each side of carb) coolant from cylinder head?
    Blue=Fuel inlet?

Anyone care to give me a pointer?

So I'll have to cap off the outlets at the head then? I'll just connect them with a pipe. I don't suppose carb icining is much of a problem these days anyway....

Thanks very much for the pointer ;)

Well I got the 21mm carb on with a #90 jet to start off with and fitted a standard airbox which i got off ebay.

I connected up the cooling pipes and mixed a load of coolant and added it to the system. I didn't have any petrol at my workshop Friday night, so I couldn't try starting it.

Got to work this morning and found the bike standing in a giant blue puddle. The pipe had leaked from where it was connected to the cylinder head and dumped all the coolant on the floor!

    FAHN CAAAAAHHHN!!!

Got a new pipe from ebay and replaced it. Tried to start it last night but no spark. More investigations today. Nothing's ever easy!

well done mate must say im impressed with your effort

Im jacked my NSR plans and bought another aerox :D

the stupid things keep relling you back in as soon as you sell them

im yet to find a another bike that wheelies better than them

looks like the engine you got off me was a good un then :D

just spend £100- 200 on plastics rund the engine as it is and you will be very very pleased!

and the selling potential can reCH 500-600 £ maybe more depending on area you live :D

very impressed with your commitment :D

Yep, the engine is a good'un so far. It's really smoky because I put a shot of oil in the petrol, but the oil pump has primed now. The 21mm carb's oil inlet was further away than the original Yam one so i extended the oil pipe with some clear tube. That way I could watch the oil passing through it ;)

I only put a couple of pints of petrol into the tank, so I'll fill with neat petrol now to weaken the mix a bit.

I managed to get all my stickers off the panels using wire wool and meths. The paint is fucked now but I was gong for a respray anyway. i tried everything to remove the sticky stuff left behind after removing the stickers.
    Petrol
    White Spirit
    Meths
even...don't laugh...Gin. i figured the alcohol might have an effect on the adhesive.

It didn't work so I drank it. Cheers!

Ahhhh! My brother is a model train fan. (He makes models for a living!) He uses a product called MEKPAK (his stuff contains methyl ethyl ketone) to bond styrene plastics together. It sounds similar. That also sounds similar to the stuff double glazers use to clean UPVC window frames when they've finished the job.

All my stickers are off now, but I'll try it next time. Thanks.

It's time to get the bike running better before I put all the panels back on. I tried riding it as it is in the car park at work and it just barely moved with me on it. I'll try taking the airbox off to see if its starved of air. If that makes a difference, I'll make a couple of holes in it. When the carburettor came, it had instructions for modifying every other airbox that carb is meant for except mine! :(

Just remembered I haven't put the rollers on which came with the Doppler pipe yet. :emb:

ye sorry, was a bit fucked last night an the spelling was all over the place, thas the gear the "mekpak" is just a product name.. mabey it has another aditive but i dont know, i use it to clean joins and in micro welders to flame polish plastic too. great geer just do a test patch on your paint.. :D

I've started filling the scratches in the panels and spraying them. It won't be the best job, but it's all good practice.
