The rev counter has finally arrived! :) It's only taken a bloody month to arrive, near as dammit.

The box was only open for ten minutes and the whole clock assembly was in bits :D . The original Peugeot needle from the temperature gauge fits a treat, although the gauge body is a bit deeper then the Peugeot clock casing, so a little old-fashioned 'fettling' will be required. It can be made to fit though, and that's good. The screws that secure the fascia on will hold the rev counter in place, but a pair of small brackets to support the back end to the clock casing will be fabricated.

Some further 'fettling' will probably be needed to the black clocks cover, cutting the hole larger to make the dial fully visible. Luckily the Chinese rev-counter has a black hard plastic and a sponge ring, that I can use to make up the gap around the hole to the glass. It's 50-50 at the moment as to if a spare set of clocks that I got for a song will have to donate it's fuel clock lens for the other clocks, as the dial is bigger than the right hand lens.

Tomorrow I'll scan the rev counter dial and do some more Photoshopping, to bring the fascia together as a whole.

Your brother is a grim horror story of not-so-lucrative deals, isn't he, Scootz?

im saying nothing about it apart from if you want a £900 mountain bike for £50 hes the person to ask.
you want parts for a yzfr125 within a few days, he knows the people.
hes a dodgy little bastard, if he doesn't sort his fucking life out soon I know exactly where hell be heading and it aint in my bloody direction. if I did half the shit he does his dad, my stepdad would kill me. he gets away with bloody murder.
the only reason im helping him a little with this project is because im trying to keep him off the road until his ban is up, once his ban is up he can get his provisional, do his CBT and get legal.
£400 for a Suzuki burgman 125 with front end damage. lets hope he doesn't fuck this one up.

Here's a quick and dirty mock-up of the final effect that I am after with the modified fascia.

What do you think? It's low-res at the moment, but once I have the layout that I like, I'll finish it in high-res. I've limited the size of the rev counter dial on this version to see if I can avoid cutting a larger hole on the clock cover.

landlords son came and knocked the door, wants me to take all the panels off his chink 125, hammerite the frame, put new forks, tyres, belt, rollers, clutch and heated grips on and wants a full service. already has all the parts so I think a full day will see all that done and will earn me some beer monies.

Here's the Hi-Res, 600dpi version of the modified fascia.

Now I just need to print that out on tracing paper, laminate it and cut it out, ready to be fitted to the clocks. I need to drill a hole in the back of the casing to fit the rev counter and I'll start on that tomorrow, if I can find my hole saw.

I finished painting and lacquering the front fairing today. This is the result and it gives Mark something to aspire to for his Honda project.

Now ^^^ that ^^^ is positive proof that any paint job is 90% preparation. That's after lacquer and it's not even been buffed yet. That shine is about two feet deep and it's ace. I've still got the side panels and the handlebar panel to lacquer tomorrow but I'm totally happy with that.

I don't know, Stevep's paint jobs are excellent and if I've managed to match his standard, then I've done better than I thought. :)

Which bike panels are you talking about, Scootz?

the visions panels, got them today. was just kidding - gonna get all the kit and properly paint them and hopefully do some airbrushing myself.
got to cut a hole in the front panel to accomadate a radiator for a watercooled engine if I can get my hands on the one I want, want to do it once and do it properly. no bodging on this build and will be used for the occasional ride out - shows and maybe a rally or two. I did the CBR with just wilko primier, gloss black and wilko clearcoat, it did look OK but not perfect. but for a £20 paint job cant moan. waiting for insurance to decide what they want to do with it. might see what the buy back will be and turn that into a tastefull streetfighter.
looking at powdercoating for the frame and wheels for the vision at the moment. not decided on what ill do with the trans cover, I could either powdercoat it along with wheels and frame or I could paint it and do some basic airbrushing on it. decisions decisions.

could never hope to match that standard-
