weve pretty much given up on it now.
were gonna strip it for spares or sell it off cheap as a project.
hes gonna save up for a few weeks (only gets paid £60 a week for 3 days work) and get something cheap to run around on.
its really doing my head in now.

so im over mothers working on the ped with my brother. stepdad comes out and asks what were trying to do and then says the reason the gearbox is leaking oil is because it has no gasket behind it and no sealent. easyish fix. he has a mess about with the rear brake and it works fine. starter relay is 100% gone so we need a new one or a kickstart sorting. going to start on the carb soon.

Oook, here's a first for me..........this runner i bought is completely unadulterated.
It still has the restrictor in the variator, the standard exhaust and the original standard 12mm carb. Although the exhaust has had the pipe restriction cut, flattened and welded.
Just put a new oil pump belt on it and made sure the pump is working nicely, drained the oil tank and blew the lines through, refilled with Castrol Actevo 2T.
All the bolts and screws so far have been copper greased by the dealer, i've got a full history of work from its first service to the time it got parked up in 2005.

it needs painting, the tyres have still got the paint on them down the middle, the apprentice wants it..........now there's a dilemma in itself. I just can't believe that a 2000 plated un-modded runner has literally fell into my hands.

I wouldn't let it go. leave it unmodded. get it looking good again. keep it. in a few years time.... do you realise how much that could be worth ? ;) if you sell it you know somebodys just going to 172 it.

yeah, a few have already been on about that, the bloke i had it off said it was doing 48mph before he parked it up, quick enough i think, could make it quicker but what for? Now the washer is out the variator might make it a little quicker, you could see where the belt was stopping before, well short of the top.

I'm not a big fan of runners to be honest, and the idea is to buy, renovate and sell on, and maybe get the return custom. The neos i also bought now runs, needs a few things but not much, that'll go for mot in the next week or two and then sold.

it runs......its shite but it runs. took the 12mm carb off and its obviously crapped up, trouble is i've got a 19mm performance carb screaming at me from behind the cupboard door! Resist Resist

Well, thats buggered it................no weber main jets. It definately needs more fuel, sucking too much air and air mix screw can't cope. Now then...................

I've just scored another part of my 'retro' makeover for my TKR. Check this out - a virtually brand-new, 1972 chrome grille badge! This is going to look sooo cool on ny bike and is another thing that will make it totally unique.

It's kind of reminiscent of The Avengers and the Gatecrasher logo... anyway, I love it!
