Bought a little trailer a few weeks ago, get to use it in the morning for the first time. Got to collect an NRG that has blown up. Then when i get back with that, will swop it for the Katana which is booked in for MOT at 12:20.

Well i got the nrg back to the garage, tried to take the barrel off and was as stiff as a stiffyo_O
Turns out one of the piston circlips had jumped its groove and buried itself into the sidewall of the barrel in several places. Thats not so bad, straight forward piston, barrel and small end bearing replacement.
Checked the conrod for play though............and i'm not fitting anything to THAT!
Waaaaaay too much sideplay. If i fitted a new kit to that i doubt it would last 2 weeks. So phoned the customer to let him know, you should have heard the groan down the phone:D
Anyway, he's agreed to the full job, as it's the only way to do it properly.
So now it's piston, barrel, small end, gaskets, crank, bearings and seals.
Then he tells me that it needs MOTing as well!
Oh well, another full sunday for me.

I finished stripping the paint off the rear wheel of the spare set that I have for the TKR 2. It's just about ready for a Citric Acid bath now. I have a bit left to do on the front wheel, followed by another acid bath and then they are ready for acid etch primer. Pictures are in the thread where I am discussing what colour to refinish the wheels with.

Think I am going to give up with the 125 zip now, just had enough of this thing & can never seem to have a break with the thing, something is always going wrong, I've replaced parts after parts & the engine still runs like a bag of spanners.

Think i'll either be learning to drive or just go buy something new.

Got bored at 8pm, so went back out to the workshop and removed and stripped the engine on the nrg. Now its ready for cleaning and rebuilding tomorrow. Need to drill out a couple of broken screws as well.

TBH Mark, I'd prefer Vivacity wheels on the TKR as they are 12" and aren't so 'chunky' looking when compared to the Trekker Off-Road / TKR 2 wheels. If I could score a set of Viva 3 wheels at the right price then I'd maybe reconsider the wheels situation.

Trouble at mill. Went to a concert tonight with my GF on her scoot. One or more of the bearings in the final transmission is seriously on the way out. It does very odd and unsettling vibratory things. Big job for next week. It's unsafe and requires immedeate attention. That's 50,000 kilometers I got out of that set. I was kind of expecting it.......

Wish I could score a better knoeledge on bike & range of interchangability on parts/self -
fair selection about, with a HUGE variance in price,
almost enough to drive a person ga-ga,a deffinate impede to otr'ing V/C in better shape & MOT prep.;).mk.

The nrg is all built up and back in the bike running, need to have a play with the carb just to sweeten it up a little.
Then a customer sticks his head in the garage and says "steve, i've siezed my motor mower, can you fix it?"
    Quick reply was "NO".

Took tranny apart. The main bearing in the case (the big one) had self destructed. Removed old bearing & seal - replaced with new. Washed & cleaned everything. New gasket.Reassembled with sealant & thread lock. It's drying. New oil tonight & then a quick test. :)

Bought myself a new toy last week, got to use it tonight on the Katana Panels.

125ml pot, majorly adjustable patterns, and very, very, little wastage. And it feels so nice in the hand.
90psi behind it set on the compressor, used two pots to do this little lot:

Todays project is to balance the GF's clutch. I've tried it and it vibrates. This is why she's shagging bearings on the corrector shaft. The 'wings' aren't all the same weight so at speed - there's an eccentricity. So it's coming apart and they're getting weighed and adjusted.

Fixed the 'war wounds' suffered by the V/C,from all those fekking speedbumps, during my time commuting to Walthamstow -
    Involved some bolts,some washers,some nuts.....
    AND MY DRILL.!!!.:).
