Got a neighbour's mate to remove the old knackered tyres from the spare set of Trekker wheels I bought ages ago. There are a few gouges inside the rim where someone has obviously hammered a tyre lever in, to break the bead from the rim and the inner edge where the bead sits looks a little ragged.

I don't want to risk a sudden deflation of a new tyre when the wheels are used on the bike, so I'll strip the paint off, assess the damage and do some repairs before I start doing my ODCD-driven paint job on the wheels. This might be a job for the Lumi-Weld...

I haven't been able to work on the Italjet much, but I got one step further last night. finally got a new carb (used but new to me) and cleaned the internals, made sure it was all good. fitted it to the scooter, auto choke works fine - my idiot brother couldn't figure out that there was a manual choke on the old carb so he was starting it with easy start constantly. all I need to do now is add a drain pipe, block off the oil inlet on the carb and fit an old airbox from a Chinese scoot or one of my brothers old Hondas, then the engine wont get messed up from water getting inside it with a open air filter when ridden in the rain - guess who has a idiot brother who did that a few times
and he calls himself a mechanic.

Well, it got re-listed due to a zero-feedback buyer, but this time I won it! I have just bagged a Yasuni R exhaust for just over eleven quid - that's a result and a half! :D

    *Ahem*

didnt go on my trip because there was a emergency at work. sorted that out and decided that I would follow my brother from Walsall to Solihull and then back, so I did, then on my way back from making sure brother got home ok, going down dual carriageway, my lights were on green, doing 30mph through the lights on a 40mph road, just to be carefull.
vauxhall cavalier just goes through a red light and i smashed into his wing, bike bounced and went into the lampost/traffic light thing and he carried on across the junction. frame is bent. never to be put on the road again.

shit happens, then you have to get back up. im not happy right now, infact im really pissed off considering I had literally only just got the bike back after having a load of work done to it and the panels changed for the fiat colours. lucky police were behind me. driver being charged with a few things and I should get a good few ££££ out of it.

V-Click = Chinese built Peugeot = made out of Craptonite, chocolate and old newpapers.

The damage looks like either the piston ring snapped and rode over the locating pin, or one of the piston circlips came out. I can't think of anything else that could cause that sort of damage.

    @ Scootz

The most important thing is, are you OK? You aren't hurt at all, are you?

yeah im good. bit bruised and dislocated knee, but all got sorted at hospital. wearing full leathers with armour in probably stopped me being a lot worse off.

Glad to hear it. :) The rest can be sorted out by the Plod and the insurers, as he's bang to rights and clearly at fault, as they saw what happened; they may even have video evidence if it's a traffic car. A Cavalier is an old car - I hope that the other driver was insured. Did you manage to get the officers' collar numbers to put on your claim form?

I've got another gy6 engine on the shelf that i took out of a sukida, standard 50cc jobbie, didn't think it would ever get used or put into another bike, but guess where the piston and barrel is gong tomorrow??????

oh hes screwed. Traffic car. yes. video evidence. yes. police officers witnessing the whole thing including them driving off a bit and going just past the junction where they hit me. he cant argue with the traffic cars footage, that and cctv from a local shop that clearly shows his light on red now can he ?
hes being charged with dangerous + careless driving, driving without due care and attention, making off from the scene of an accident and possibly assault with a deadly weapon - when he drove off he hit me again. the officer dealing with it has been very good so far with keeping me updated etc etc. informed me he blew 010 on the breathalyzer . luckily he was insured, everything is being forwarded to the insurance companies, his insurance wont even be able to argue with any of it. they cant even argue with the value of my bike, leathers etc etc because the bike had just been valued by Yamaha themselves at £2995 with all the new kit + exhaust + leathers at almost £500. helmet will be £100. then theres the injury compo which I will be going for as it will cause lasting damage with it being dislocated and its guaranteed to pop out again at some point. personally, I hope the cunt is arse raped. theres a special place in hell reserved for people like him.
