Discovered today that my zip does not have the gear-up fitted, got the standard set-up in there. Hmphf!
Also noticed some play in the input shaft bearing whilst taking it apart so that'll get changed as well. And the seal.
Only had one caller in today, the lad who's nrg i rebuilt, not the recent one, but an earlier build i did, one of the exhaust lugs had cracked on the supports near the back wheel, simple weld job, but while it was in i'd been meaning to have a look at the clutch set-up. Had to rev the nuts off it before it would crawl away and finally get up to speed. Turns out he had an adjustable clutch in it with red clutch springs, strongest you can get, and the engine just cant throw the shoes out enough to move the bike properly. Changed the whole set-up for the standard set-up, and it goes lovely now, starts to move at 4 1/2K rpm, nice and smooth through the rev range. He's happy.

    @ Stevep

I was originally thinking of painting the cases with Anthracite metallic paint, but my gut instinct told me that it would end up looking too dark in colour. The Simoniz Steel Wheel paint seems to have a slight iridescent quality that throws up some slight variations in colour due to the angle of the light as it catches it; it's fab and I love it - you can sort-of see it in the photos where the colour shifts from slightly brown to grey.

It's just the right effect that I wanted that would cause a double-take if you saw it, due to the subtle difference from the original finish.

The primer is U-Pol No.8 Acid Etch Primer Steve, the final colour is Simoniz Steel Wheel Paint. I got both from Halfrauds.

Thanks Merlin, I'll have a look at that.

Got a new 'project' for a customer...............bought it in lying down in the back of a Zafira...............you can guess can't you..............here's a hint............been stood in the back garden for 3 years!
I'll post some photos later and start a new thread.

because im such a genius ive come up with what could possibly be the best bodge ever...
now I need stop water getting into my open air filter on the scooter... so.... ive come up with a idea/plan... instead of forking out close to £80 on a airbox... some old hoover pipe.... big hole in the seat bucket... hoover pipe fed through... silicon sealed where the pipe goes under the seat.. air filter on the end of said pipe and hoover pipe hooked to original air filter inlet pipe... boom. im a friggin genius.. cost - whatever it costs to replace my mothers shitty asda smart price hoover and some silicon sealant.

Have a bag of dirty/clean rags in the yard-
after exhaust has cooled down (2 cups tea/4fags),
give it a fairly righteous rubdown, just to get dust/running dirt off an gives a good visual idea of any leaks, etc.

italshit will be getting dropped off at my moms in the next week or so. its all just plug and play stuff now so im going to let my brother do most of it/do what I can when I get time to go up there. going to get all the panels off and give her a bloody good scrub. paint the frame + wheels + forks + transmission cover. get her looking absolutely fecking mint. then ill bring her to her right home.
shell probably get ridden more than the Yamaha which I am starting to love more and more. rode it to work this morning. rode it around a bit. had a few light - light races with chavs and slayed them. came home. going to ride it to work again in a bit to close up.

it doesn't really matter what the sticker is but if anyone has any they could send to go onto the front panels then they would be greatfully appreciated - if you have any, inbox me and ill give you address to send them to me :) trying to get as many as possible!

    Errm - let's see -
    MHR Team 2 70cc
    Doppler Crank
    Malossi digital advance ignition
Flowed cases (and I do mean flowed - I shit you not)
    Yasuni carerra 30 pipe
RSE racing 5° wedge under Malossi VL14 reed box
Stage 6 or home made admission pipe
OKO 28 or Del Orto 28 VHST
    Stage 6 foam box
    Malossi Overrange pack
Top perf tranny box (needle bearings)
    Malossi gear up kit
2 radiators, 13 inch Mags from an Aprillia SR, Big 240 disc on the front, Malossi pads for the rear (drum brake - Ovetto oblige)
If it works, I'll either kill myself, be on the news, or be the happiest man alive !
Main thing is I get the engine rebuild filmed/photographed. This is the big issue. I'm sure lots of people want to know. And I sure as hell want you to know.

I just found a new malossi gear-up for the zip, 15/38 straight cut toothed version, that, apparently, gives upto 30% more power from the gearbox!
That'll put my zips speed to somewhere in the 70+ mph bracket at full throttle.
    Oooooohhhhhhh...............
Difficult enough at the moment to keep the front down as it is..................
