    Simply bearings Merlin, Simply bearings.
I'm surprised actually that it has the seals on the bearing, considering its in the gearbox

The shaft seal is on the outside of the bearing (the brakes side), so I think that's more of a dust seal than an oil seal. The rubber seals on the bearing will help retain the gearbox oil.

Simply bearings, Steve? I don't think so if you are 18 years old and are trying to fix your bike and can't find out what to order as a replacement. Information on main crankshaft bearing sizes is all over the place, info is not so widespread on the other bearings that may need to be replaced.

No Merlin, what i'm saying is that Simply Bearings will have that bearing in stock, more than likely, if your having trouble finding them at the usual outlets.

Ahh I see, no worries. Slight misunderstanding on the name of the company.

Bearing King have the seal and bearing in stock for £5.54 plus the dreaded and shipping, not too bad really.

Fortunately, the internal input shaft bearing is OK, so replacing the output bearing and seal should give the gearbox the all-clear for when I come to reassemble it. I haven't removed the input shaft seal and as the bearing is OK with no play in it, I should be OK to re-use that one.

Has anyone any ideas where I can get original zip decals? I don't want the ones of eBay and such.

I've tried a lot of places I know, also asked sticker/decal sellers on eBay with no luck, tried aj suttons and so on.

    Really?
You're in there anyway, and for what they cost, and taking into consideration all that you've already done, i'd change it Merlin.
We all know, that if one is going/gone, then the rest won't be far behind. Save yourself time and grief in the future.

    SPOKE TOO SOON!
Just had an old LTD 750 walked in, said it lost all power as he was coming up the hill and now it just wont start.
He's flattened the battery cranking it, just had a quick look and guess what...........no fuel in the filter!!!!
    MUPPET!
Guess that'll be the first point of call then, put some fuel in, charge the battery, spin the starter.

How much did you charge, Steve? I'd have charged him £10 - £7 for a gallon of fuel and £3 for knowing where to put it!! :D

Joking aside, a lot of classic bikes don't take fuel gauges and this is where scooters have an advantage. You don't need to shake the bike to see how much fuel is left. The rider must have left the fuel tap on Reserve for it to be completely empty.

    @Merlin
    That exact amount.:D
This bike does have a fuel light on the clocks to say low fuel level and it is working, I checked as I put the fuel in, works perfectly, but it also has a reserve on the tap and I don't think that's working as it should because the tank was bone dry with the tap on in its normal 'on' position. Gave him a little 'tutorial' on filling up and zeroing the mileage counter.;)

    @ KidBilly

There are several versions of artwork decals on the Zip; which ones in particular are you looking for? If you can find decent enough quality images of them, maybe a local company that makes vinyl sign artwork for vans can help you.

Today, I cleaned up and sprayed the body of the starter motor and tidied up the wiring for the CDI and starter motor by cutting off the awful black sleeve and putting some cable ties on at neat intervals. I also cleaned up and de-glazed the back brake shoes, ready for when they get re-installed.

I now need to remove the tyres from my spare set of wheels ready to repaint them, but I'm not sure that I can manage it with my bad shoulder. Are there many major tyre outlets in the UK that are equipped to remove scooter tyres, or will I need a motorcycle shop?

take it to a backstreet style garage, most will take the tyres off for you, or atleast have a go and are cheaper than a bike shop. for example, the place my brother works - £20 to remove two tyres. the place I work - £10 for 15 mins out of the apprentices busy tea making schedule. most will have a go at it just for the hell/experience of it.

Looking for basically replicas of the zip 125's decals, I've posted a picture somewhere on the forum in the past asking, was told about a person on eBay although they couldn't make them for me.

Also, a bit off-topic but its for anyone who may know the answer..

Will a gilera ice number plate bracket fit on a zip 125 4t casing? (hoping it does, since I bought one..)

Got my zip taxed this morning, and went for a little bladder. Goes well, but with all the tuning stuff on it, i think it should have a better top end. Seemed like it struggled to get past 50mph on its clocks.

Just cleaned and de-sealant - ed the MHR kit. Gave the piston a tush. I've got the case ready - the kit ready - the crank is waiting with spanking new bearings on it. And there's an MHR internal rotor igntion waiting in the garage - along with a Yasuni C30 exhaust..... And there's a Mikuni or a Del orto VHST waiting too - with a Stage 6 Big foam filter.
    Hmmmmmm
