Yep, that's why I am struggling to figure out what to do with it, as I don't want to damage any of the engine in the process.

To be fair, I wouldn't of even bothered with it, but after noticing I have been riding it for the last 6 months with NO nut on the bolt, now I've noticed there isn't one, I wanted to fix that, although the thread is messed up and I can't even get a nut onto the bolt.

I have a motor like that. The case cut for the MHR. That bolt wouldn't budge. I solved the problem by cutting the bastard in half. I have a side stand.......

    MOT's in the morning:confused:

Going out to the workshop in a little bit to start on the runner i recovered last night, see whats going on with that.
A little hesitant to start, but fires up then dies after about 20 seconds. Sounds like fuel starvation, but this thing played up last time it pissed down with heavy rain, that turned out to be water getting to the plug cap. Cured that.
And boy was it raining yesterday evening, the proverbial cats and dogs.

Also looking at buying a 4 x 3 trailer to convert into a small bike trailer, 2 or 3 bikes, getting too old for running them up the ramp into the back of my pickup.:(

I am definitely doing the trailor thing. And soon. Last time my GF broke down I had to put her ovetto in the back of my astra...... oh how we laughed. Not.

    Good luck with the MOT

    You've got a zip haven't you?
And its the long one at the front that's seized in?
If so, best bet is to grind the bolt flush both sides, bend the cradle a little so you can take it off, then fit a side stand.

I have one of these on my zip as well as the main stand.

Unbelievable. Karma has just zapped me. New stand has just sheared off my motor when I moved it out of the yard at work to come home. So I've knowhere now to fit a centre stand and no one makes a side stand for a 50 drag. Talk about miffed off

Yeah, a gold metallic paint job on that case could look quite smart and a little different from the normal black or aluminium silver. The front brake caliper is painted in gold, so why not?

I also managed to finally find a source of Torero Red paint. A company called RS Bike Paint Ltd (http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-gb/colours.php) has it, although it wasn't quite what I expected. Apparently, the red colour is transparent and has to be laid over a brilliant white primer. The red colour is also matt finish and has to be overlaid with clear coat lacquer.

To buy enough primer, colour coat and lacquer to do a dog's bollox paint job on the new body kit for my bike is going to work out at a shade over £100. I'd best start saving my pennies then, for when I get the new TNT body kit to replace the existing bodywork.

I've also found the "Yellow 7" 307 WRC decal kit on eBay for my TKR. I'm still undecided as to if to do a full replica replacement body kit to match the original one, or to paint the bike in a more tasteful share of metallic red with some more muted and slightly retro Peugeot badges. If I go down the more tasteful route, I'll ditch the red TKR seat and get a black seat from a Vivacity or a Trekker.

Sounds like it'll be nice whatever you decide to do. Planning to make the son jealous are we?;) Show him what he could've had, with a little patience. Then tell him to keep his eyes on it cos he'll never get his arse on it. Again.

Wasn't far off my timing, 10:09pm.
Just changed the rollers on another vx, bloody things are appearing from nowhere lately, sorted the exhaust blowing on a sym jet, now time to catch up on gossip along with Auntie Stella and Uncle Artois.

    None.
been out and about on the bike all day, having fun.
went and saw the scooter, it can be pushed forwards but not backwards, its had new brake shoes, so that could of been done wrong or when theyve been messing with the gearbox theyve fucked that up but my brother had a look at the gears etc, no chipped teeth, nothing out of place, the clutch spindle bit is being put in right, plenty of gearbox oil.... any ideas?

I've been filling and sanding the transmission case today. I went for the quick-set epoxy in the end as I think that it will stick to the case better in the long term. Here's some pictures after a lot of filling and sanding. The epoxy is also easier to shape and smooth with a wet finger, to minimise the need for sanding and to fill in cracks like those in the photos. Definitely recommended for a job such as this.

I was surprised at the surface cracks that I found in the case after removing the original paint - you can just make them out in the photos. These were probably caused by the casting cooling too fast when it was manufactured and it hints at somewhat poo quality control in my opinion.

The 'dings' have gone and it needs a bit more preparation work with a finer grade of grit paper, before I give it some etch primer followed by some high-build primer.

Quite possibly caused by rapid cooling, could also be from a poor mix of grades of aluminium. LM4 & LM6 type.
Or from a die that is too cold.
I used to see these when i was the supervisor in the foundry, just chucked it back in the crucible. But as you say, quality control.

Finally got a side stand fitted on the dragster. It's a formula 50 and fitted straight on although the seller said it wouldn't fit.

I checked the gearbox bearings today and found that the final drive rear axle bearing was knackered and graunchy as Hell - no way is that staying in there. I extracted it using my home made puller (a length of Unistrut that bridges the casting, some M10 threaded stud with nuts and assorted washers) to pull it out, then identified it and measured it.

I was surprised that the usual suspect scooter shops don't seem to stock seals and bearings for the gearbox, neither are they identified anywhere handy on the Internet, so I'm putting the information up here to make sure that it's recorded somewhere for others to find. These parts should fit the Trekker, TKR 2, Vivacity, Speedfight 2 and similar models.

The bearing is a 6004 2RSH C3 type, deep groove, close tolerance, two rubber seals, size 20 x 42 x 12mm. Get a decent brand such as FAG, NTN, SKF or similar.

The oil seal is an R23 type Rotary Shaft Oil Seal with Garter Spring, size 26 x 42 x 7mm.

    ;)
