I hate paint on engines. They get cleaned, then they get sprayed with 3 in 1. I have one which is polished, but not by me. But it does look nice. And once it's done, a wax job with a cotton wheel and it shines really easilly, no matter how much crap was on there. I think it's the nooks and crannies that attract the oxidization. Once they're gone, it takes longer for the process to start. I guess..

NOTHING GETTING DONE TO ANY PED TODAY FROM THIS POINT ONWARDS (13.52PM)

Reason being, we, at work are tired of the company walking all over us, so the entire workforce has gone home as a protest. All the managers were told about it beforehand as well, but they didn't believe us.
So at 1 o'clock, everybody clocked out and went!
I was home by 1:30, checked the broadband was still working (connected again this morning) and decided to have a beer and do some browsing.
Thats the reason i'm not doing peds today..........beer.
Been threatening to have a beer or two for weeks now and never got round to it.................have now...............and me likee:D

Finished spraying the belly pan, all grey plastics are now black, other panels almost done, will be painted then put in the oven.

Cleaned the chrome bits on my front shock, still yet to find out how the hell the spring comes off!

Just got some split pins for the wheels so can take them off and get them powder coated, for £8 a wheel I might as well get them done properly..

Replaced the speedo cable for a working one.

Now waiting on some terminals to arrive so I can fix more of the bodged up wiring, oh did I forget to mention that I am looking for another project zip? Although a 2 stroke this time, no idea if i'll keep both, or any of them.

I've not even wire brushed those parts - I just rinsed them off, dried them and took the photos. I'll get them ready for the primer tomorrow. I'm really getting into this no-effort rust removal...;)

Now this is how i like them. Done the centre stand on a vx, and sorted the running on a runner. Nice easy simple jobs, nothing complicated, still got all the skin on my knuckles.
And got 2 booked in for MOT next saturday.
Oh yeah, and i might become the owner of that bitching nrg that I'M STILL having problems witho_O

I spent a few hours on my neighbour's Jetforce 125 today. The bike has been badly bodged by previous owners. The lad next door has bought a battery for it and when we tried to start it, we could hear the exhaust blowing all over the place. When I checked it, there was no gasket fitted to the down pipe and the gasket to the silencer was made of cardboard! I donated an exhaust gasket for the header as it's the same as the Trekker and applied some exhaust paste to seal the joint to the silencer.

He put some fuel in it and turned it over, it wouldn't start. I hooked up my spare car battery via jump leads and after a clean of the plug and a lot of cranking, it eventually started. It vibrates badly and runs like a bag of crap (possibly main bearings on their way out), probably because the standard air filter, air box and air flow sensor are missing, having been replaced with a cheap 'K&N' type mesh filter. the four pin plug for the mass air flow sensor is there, but the sensor isn't. Whoever bodged this thinks that the bike has a carburettor. </facepalm>

The clocks don't fully work, the lights and indicators also don't work with the ignition on, although I suspect that these are down to blown fuses and iffy electrics. The clocks sort-of work, they self-test and reset whilst the starter is being cranked, but they stop working when the starter button is released. It's all ECU, relay and fuse stuff on this bike and needs a load of diagnostic work, as well as spare relays and fuses to test it all properly.

The back tyre is at the legal limit, the front headlights and fairing are held on with wood screws and cable ties and the whole condition of the bike screams 'Quality mechanic workmanship'. NOT. I almost felt that it was pleading with me for it to be put out of it's misery.

Anyhoo, after getting it running of sorts, he asks to borrow my helmet to take it out to test it. I looked at him and said "Are you serious? You have no lights, no horn and no indicators, that's apart from no MOT, road tax or insurance." His girlfriend and her mother then verbally laid into him big time, to get him to see sense. I wouldn't have minded so much, but he was trying to take his bike out to the road through my front garden and my dogs were going apeshit at the shouting. I'm also not 100% that the ABS would perform if called upon in the bike's current electrical state, so taking it out on the road would be potentially suicidal as well as majorly illegal.

The bike needs a serious amount of cash thrown at it, more than he is prepared to spend on it, I suspect. Whatever he pad for it was probably way too much and he wants to make a quick profit from it. There's one born every minute and someone saw him coming...

Hey Merlin, that sounds like most of the bikes that come through here!:) Cable ties, gaffa tape and wood screws.

I reckon that bike needs at least £3-400 spent on it to make it road worthy, the price of decent replacement bodywork might drive that cost even higher. It's a money pit in the making. I wonder how many previous owners that bike has had?

Later in the day after things had calmed down, his girlfriend asked me if I was interested in buying it - I declined her kind offer, telling her that I already had one bike project on the go with the TKR and I didn't want another at the moment.

I saw a similar '03 plate Jetforce for sale on eBay recently for £350 and given the choice, I'd buy that one, not the one he's got. A cheap K&N type filter right in front of the back wheel, where it can ingest all the water, dirt, etc. thrown up from the road? Yeah that sounds like a brilliant idea, NOT.

Going to have a good full day tomorrow on this problem NRG.
I had a little word with her earlier, and told her to start behaving herself; shes got all new parts and there's no reason for her to play her face at me. And if the bitch don't tell me whats wrong so i can fix it then i'm going to fire the cow!
All the other work is done, got 2 in for MOT next week, no-one coming in that i know of, yet.
    We'll see what happens.

Yeah I suppose I did see it coming. He knows that I can fix stuff as he's seen me fix my car recently, as well as seeing me take the engine off the TKR for a rebuild.

I took most of the bodywork off his bike, ready for him to start tracing the wiring through and look for blown fuses etc., but as soon as the engine was running, he told me to put all of the bodywork back on. All he was interested in was going out and seeing how fast it would go. Not a care in the World about the Police pulling him over, road tax, insurance, MOT, no lights, no indicators or working speedo, also no regard for kids that might be playing out and could run into the road in front of him.

He's not in work at the moment, so I can't see him spending any more money on it and the look on his girlfriend's face when I told her that it needed a lot of work tells me that it's likely to disappear very shortly with no further work being done on it. I'll just have to wait and see.

Steve, there's a Jetforce that needs some fettling in Manchester, if you're a bit slack for work...:D

Am i pricing my scooters too low?
I've got this Piaggio Zip SP, 2002 on an 02 plate, tuned nicely, 70cc PM Tuning X-Tech piston, barrel and head, Malossi multivar 2000 variator, Scooter asassins adjustable clutch, PM Tuning gear-up, 21mm performance carb, Malossi exhaust. And re-sprayed.
I was going to sell it with 12 months mot for £600.
But i've just had in a V plated runner that the kids mother bought for £450, and thats got no mot and needs work.
    Got me thinking, thats all.
