They only sell number plates and well I won't need another anytime soon and also I don't think I'd want another off them again if they couldn't get the first one correct.

I sprayed the new cylinder barrel and the Technigas exhaust today with black high temperature paint. The cylinder looks ace (brand new, so only masking up required) and the exhaust looks a lot better than it did before. I don't know what lacquer Technigas use on their pipes, but it's absolutely bobbins, it didn't work at all and the exhaust was red rusty.

I've also cleaned up the cylinder head and decarbonised it. I've examined the main stand and it's slightly bent and has two small cracks on the left hand leg, as if the peg than lowers the stand had collided with something, bending the stand. I'll take it to work this coming week and get it re-fettled in the engineering shop - a bit of oxy acetylene to warm it up and straighten it, followed by some welding should see it sorted then I'll prep it for paint.

My frozen shoulder is still bad and that's slowing progress down but I will get there eventually. I want to get to the point of a reassembled engine and back wheel in a free standing state ready for re-assembly to the bike and then I'll turn my attention to the frame, as it needs some paint before I'm happy enough to re-install the engine.

I removed the old crank bearings from the crankcases today. They are definitely noisy and were due for replacement. My son was complaining of vibration on the bike before he gave it back to me, so I think I've found the root cause. I've also cleaned up the back wheel and found that the white paint is blistered and lifted, so the back wheel will need prepping for paint too.

My neighbour has bought an 03-plate Peugeot Jetforce 125 on the cheap and I suspect that it's destined to be a money pit. He hasn't got the red master key, it was allegedly a runner and I loaned him my battery charger to see if he could start it. Yesterday he put the battery back on and almost immediately it blew the 30A fuse, so something is wrong in the electrical department. I get the feeling that I'll get dragged into helping him work out what's wrong with it. From what I've read around about the Jetforce, it's over-complicated and delicate, as well as expensive to fix if the ECU or immobiliser won't play ball.

hmmm, this nrg is confusing; new piston, barrel, associated gaskets, new crank bearings and seals.
    only 78psi on compression test.o_O
enough to start it, but anything past half throttle is impossible.
think i might get another set of gaskets, try those and see what happens.

on another matter, got a zip in, massive split in the manifold, changed it, set carb again, noticed massive bubble gaps in the main oil line, investigated, found the end of a cotton bud jammed in the oil tank outlet pipe.
then it wouldn't start again. had been running upto this point, whipped piston and barrel off, scored, changed piston and barrel, still wont start, compression at 105psi so plenty there. another confusing piaggio jobbie.
getting tired of these friggin jobs.

    Care to share any experiences?

    @ Stevep

Try lapping the head with fine glasspaper, laid on a sheet of glass; it may be warped and saidnign it in this way would show this up.

would refuse to start if ridden for 30 mins and sat for 5 mins, we had to let it sit for another half an hour just to get it to start. ran like crap in the cold. front left and rear left indicator bulbs would blow once a week guaranteed. the drivebelts from peugoet themselves were shite - we went through 3 in 2 weeks until we managed to get hold of a Kevlar belt that fitted. indicator relays were shite. fork seals were another. want me to go on? we had it 4 months before we got rid. the Chinese scooter I had was better.

hmm, worth a try, haven't got any glass, but have got a piece of foot square 1/2" steel plate.
going to change the carb on this zip first though, can't have two dodgy piaggios sitting in the garage doing my fruit in, not good for my mental health.;)

Just had two attemps at getting the effing go pro to film. Worked in the garage. Just took snaps on the road. Grrrrrr. Hate the ergonomics of the thing. Hate it, hate it hate it.
If I switch it on now it stays on video mode. But if I switch it on on the scoot I need to check it's on the vid mode because I know it will spontaniously go to camera mode on power up. How effing stupid is that? Why can't they just put a few more buttons on the effing thing and make it easier for idiots like me to use? Rant, rave, explete etc.

Anyway - here's what I did get done with the thing.
Washers on variators. What do you do when your clutch is already as stiff as you can manage but your take off is crap because of a wide or teddy-beared belt. You get some top perf variator washers. This one is 0.4 mm thick. Makes a lot of difference.

Errm- this is my first tuto video , so if anyone has some comments- feel free.

Hmmm, now there's something; 105psi and no vacuum from the carb.................narrowed that down a bit then
