Going to have a look later through the week I reckon.

I bought some PVC pipe cement(Think Steve recommended it?) anyway, I 'cemented' one of the cracks in the back panel, looked OK and stuck so thought i'd go eat dinner....go back to the garage and the thing has unstuck itself! :( Looks like I need a better cement I suppose, ideas?

Sounds more like pipe sealant, get a proper glue& clamp it or take panel off & weight it to push cracks together/make sure their lined up properly together.

For sure, a piece of ali plate 60x30cm is only around £5(that is online too so most likely cheaper in store) and it shouldn't be much bigger/wider than that

Once you've a proper glue sorted, cut a plastic patch to put on panel inside c1-2" all around crack area, help to spread the load of the repair, else it'll be concentrated just on crack area itself.
