Hmm, then posting it elsewhere may compromise any court action that may follow. I suggest that you hold off for now until you can find out if he's summoned to appear in court for it.

If he is summoned to appear in court and was declared to be guilty, would that give him a conviction, (would he have a conviction) or is this the wrong description of a possible outcome.

Just a fine as far as I can work it out. So no conviction, no licence endorsement

For not wearing a helmet they would have to keep repeating the offence, refuse to pay fines etc before it got serious.

Guy's probaly been classed by the police,as an 'acceptable' deviant-
manageable cause never goes, tooo far,so's there not too bothered ,add on the family's " we may know 'bout the law" better then you (police) scenario,
more than likely they view him as an acceptable pain in the ass, sadly / even if he's as thick as a redwood tree, his own crew will keep him on "the borderline".

From a legal standpoint, think it would relate to who actually gathered the evidence. ;) .

I'm now told that the offender has admitted to the police that he rode his bike with out wearing a helmet and the DVD has gone to the court

The police told me that the report went to CPS,

I rang the local Newspapers, they are looking into it now,

I would like to post the video on you-tube, but I don't want to compromise the offence.

But does this mean that people who genuinely wear turbans for religion don't have to wear helmets???

    yes.
On all journeys, the rider and pillion passenger on a motorcycle, scooter or moped MUST wear a protective helmet. This does not apply to a follower of the Sikh religion while wearing a turban.

A Turban provides some protection and in tests was found to be as effective as a crash helmet, so they are allowed to wear them. Even a Jet-style, open face helmet wouldn't stop your face from getting mashed in a crash.

The bell-end being discussed in this thread wasn't wearing anything, let alone a turban.

ive got to admit,,,i spent about 10 seconds imagining myself riding around with a turban on after reading this

rusty if you was me,,,i would put this up as a bad job and waste my time on something else like walking my dog or riding my scoot or something else us non-coppers do

You also have to stop shaving and stop cutting your hair if you become a sikh - so it's a win win. :)
