you are taking the choke off arent you?
or you do have it setup right so it goes all the way on/off ye?

you tried a fresh plug since playing with the carb. rich idle mix can kill plugs quick.

also as its an autolube carb, did you turn the oil up and have turned it up to far.lol

    Yeah the choke is off.
Have what set up so it goes all the way on/off? (excuse dumbness)

Yeah, I tried quite a few fresh plugs.
I haven't adjusted the oil feed (far left off tranny casing)
How do you adjust the amount of oil? Do it up or undo it??
    Thanks.

i ment was the choke going FULLY on/off. not gettin stuck halfway as ive had this before, when you think its fully off. .

dont worry bout the oil, just remembered urs is a 180 with 172 not a 125
with 172 where you would turn the oil pump up to compensate for the larger bore.

deffo check your not losing coolant anywhere though. WHITE smoke is usualy water. burning oil should have a bluey tint to it.

will most probs be idle mix,

mix screw is 1 and half out yer?

    The choke is functioning correctly.
I've looked for leaks, as it was mentioned earlier on in the thread, there are no water leaks. There is a SLIGHT bluey tint to it.
Cant find fuel/air mixture screw on 25mm :( :( i fail at carbs.

Theres screws in thecarb body you cant miss them lol

The water is bluey because it has antifreeze in it = good

iuf you fail with carbs WHY THE HELL HAVE YOU TRYD TO PUT ONE ON/SET IT UP????

big screw is idle SPEED small one is idle MIXTURE..

all this has been coverd MANY times befor now. its simple. your running rich. said it 3 times now.. look for an answer in a similar thread or in the guide...

as for the slide.. 30 OR 40 you will get it running ok... dont pass on psn's nonsence here cheers (tell everyone to throw a 40 slide in as the 30 is no good.. how comes i can set a 25 up on any 172 in about 20 seconds then?)

doin my head in with this

for everyone, if you DONT UNDERSTAND how somthing works.. DONT try and fit it to your bike. pritty basic advice wich should be pritty fuckin obvious to anyone

So all that shit about learning from you own mistakes is bollox yee??
The reason I put one on is because I want to get the most out of my engine.
    Why else??
So I might not catch on to setting carbs up straight away.
big deal. no need to rip my fucking head off about it. jeez.
I was only asking for a bit of help.

well, the only responce you ever got out of andy was " it needs a dyno to set it up and the slide is wrong" altho you cant jet a carb from a dyno reading wihtout half a clue about audiable tunning...

not sure where you have got this from buit it is NOT the problem wolfy is having.. his problem is too rich idle mix from the screw being all the way in.. out 1 half turn minimum and its a BR9ES not an 8..

for future referance.. try reading up on things BEFOR trying to fit them.. especially where fueling is concerned!

Put a BR9ES in and changed to a 100 main jet.
Turnt idle speed and idle mix both to 1 and half turns out.
Still runs the same, just a tiny bit better after letting it warm up for 5 mins.
Used choke to start it and it idled by its self with out.
So gonna bang a 98 jet in and see what that says.
Needle clip is 1 from top.

no, dont lean it otu anymore... its got FUCK ALL to do with idle... drop the needle to the top notch and see...

what exactly is the prob here as the vid it sounds like somone blowing in the phone, but you said that aint the engine, just some strange sound the phone picked up

so ye WHY are you changing all this an that in the first place? im LOST wiht this topic and i really cant be botherd reading it all over again

The problem is that it doesn't clear its self unless your holding it flat out when riding.
On the stand you blip the throttle it seems okay, you get on it and its a different story.
It sounds like its flooding its self, it then clears and accelerates like mad.
Some times you rev it and it just chucks out shit loads of smoke.
some time it will run fine for 10 minutes or so then go back to doing what it done before.
