1] Wobbly also included crank seals in that too, plus standard/original parts are quite expensive and sometimes even cost more than some performance equivalents.
2] Just because it says Polini on the barrel it doesn't mean its a 70 they also make 50 kits.
3] I think it would be your best bet otherwise you'll end up forking out loads for a job you could do yourself.

i refuse tu use anything tiwaneese or chineese in my bike. italian or japaneese pistons only. also crank seals will set you back a tenner from a dealer.

does the bike rev hard and not go anywhere or just not rev?

does it feel rough or smooth when you turn the engine over on the kickstart?

well why cant this machanic find out what i need lol if hes qualified to be 1. ill find out myself when i get my hands back on the bike really. it started off its electric start and it reved high but i dont think the wheel was trying to move i noticed. but like i said the bike had not been running for a year like and it sounds like it needed a starter motor just to fire it back up. havent seen it running off a kick start will find out more on monday. the bloke is going to take a look at the belt and variator if that could be the problem and the rollers are like square i jst dont know until monday but theres no guarentee that its ether of them

got a 2nd oppinion over the phone today on the bike and another place i described the problem to said it sounds like the crank oil seals have gone which would be an full engine strip down! dam it gets worse lol. saying that the bike will now get upto 5 mph but i have a feeling the air box is letting too much air in becouse the screws wont go in right and theres a slight gap saying that im not too sure and dont know if its worth checking rollers and belt?

Fuckin hell mate, i bought a minarelli engine(including malossi variator), gianelli exhaust and standard carb for about £100 off a mate!!

Asked a few Q's on here how to fit it then went for it. A lot easier if you wanna just get rollin'!!

If you get another engine, then you can get your spare one workin incase you need it again.

If you buy one from a breakers you'll be covered by the sale of goods act. If they describe it as running etc you can get your money back if it doesn't.

Most of the engines at breakers were running just fine until the front of the bike hit a car! True but not funny. :(

crank seals are not a full engine strip. i can do seals in about an hour flat and the parts cost about £10.

    take me about an hour.

well i think they are described as crank oil seals i think. i may just get a new engine like if like you said there will be a guarentee of the goods act if i did would i just take the old engine off and put the new engine on and put the cables and everything the exact same way as the other engine was? or is it more difficult

As long as its the same engine, you should "just" have to connect the
    rear shock(s)
Exhaust, if its not on the engine
    fuel pipe
    oil pipe
    water cooling pipes
    electrics (a plug)
rear brake cable or caliper. (Depending on whether its drum or disc.)

    then

Refill the radiator (if it's got one)
Adjust or bleed the rear brake

To make sure its a running engine, see if the breakers has an engine still fitted to a smashed bike, and ask to see it running. Then either buy the whole bike or ask them to take out the engine for you.

If i've missed anything I'm sure someone will add to this list.

it's a damn site easier to just change the crank seals. it's a minarelli so its daead easy. just varo and sprag clutch off the left and magneto and oil pump off the right and your down to the seals. just pop em out with a screwdriver and pop new ones in by hand. if you want to sell the bike however, i'm sure i could find a buyer because minarelli SRs are like rocking horse shit now.

seriously mate, do it yourself or get a mate to do it, garages will be garages and you'll end up over 50quid out of pocket easy.

hello all today i noticed there was no petrol or oil in my tank so i guess thats why it was really smelling of oil when it was running lol i never even thought about that like. they both were basically more or less bare empty i think and ive filled them both up but bike is still yet to start again.
