Good news is, it's not siezed up Bad news is, I haven't got a clue what's up with it. I can run it & rev it at a standstill & the temperature doesn't go above 77 degrees until the cows come home, but, as soon as I take it for a run the temp shoots up to above 100 degrees within the space of a few minutes.
stupid question. is the thermostat upside down? did it in a derbi gpr once and once it had warmed up instead of the thermostat being open allowing water/coolant to get through itd be closing off where the coolant went through? probably isnt but just a idea.
It will only fit in one way round on the Malossi head, so don't think it is that. I've had a thought this morning. It could be a problem with a slipping belt, or faulty Variator, so will check it tonight to see.
is there a bleed screw on the water pump housing, like on the Katana, as well as the head? Might be a lock there. Also, is there water coming out the exhaust, or are you having top top up the coolant? On my Katana, i had it spitting water from the exhaust, turned out to be a crack in the cylinder head that i couldn't see.
Thnk I may have found the problem. Had a play around with different carb needles last night & the bike went from running like a bag of spanners to reasonable ish. I'm going to mess with the jets after work today to see if that helps any more. I've also spoken to a car mechanic about the Speedy possibly being a pressurised system, so have blocked the hole up in the back of the expansion bottle. I will take it out for a run later to see if it solves it. On a plus note. The flasher relay turned up yesterday, fitted it & all the lights seem to be working spot on. I'm really pleased with the indicators, in fact, for less than £6 for the set, I'm over the moon with them
Quick update. Changed the jet to a 130 this morning & she flies (well as fast as a Speedshite can) but the temp is going through the roof when i'm riding. I felt the coolant hoses & they are warm, but not overly hot. I'm going to order a new thermostat & temp sender to see if this solves the problem. Onwards & upwards lol
Thermostat removed this morning, been for a little 2 mile bimble (sorry neighbours) & the temp never rose above 65 degrees, so new thermostat ordered.
Speedshite has an electrical problem now (I did think it had when the rear light was so dim), So am going to take the bodywork off over the weekend & see what's occuring.
nice project, looks clean Style is differend than the most people here in holland build. Shorter/smaller steers. in my eyes its a little big, but thats my opinion. Like the colour What is the full speclist now? Did changed the crank or still the stock one? pretty strong cranks from peugeot. But keep in mind if you go that extreme it might be a wise decision to change it Keep up the good work
Thanks for that. I'm still running the original crank as I haven't gone too over the top with the tuning. I will only be using it for work anyway. Full spec list is as follows Malossi MHR 70cc cylinder kit Stage 6 inlet Stage 6 reeds Malossi belt Stage 6 7.5g Rollers Uprated clutch spring (Don't know the origin as they were on when I bought it) Speedfight 100 Carb manual choke conversion Malossi rep Foam air filter MTKT Undertray LED Indicators Vivacity forks 1 off Carbon fibre front mudgaurd Koso clocks housed in an original Speedfight binacle Predator bodykit i think that's it, I'll add anything as I think about it. She MAY be coming up for sale as somebody on another forum has an SV650 project for sale, so watch this space.
its a shame of the exhaust, this is the pro replica, with a real stage6 pro exhausts it should run better, the rollers are pretty heavy, you should be able to go down to somewhere arround the 6.0gr maybe 5,5. It can be a midrange cilinder, but still it need make some rpm to gain power.
4th day on the road with no real problems. A customer has asked me if i want to sell it, I'm very tempted, so she coukd be going to a new home soon
It looks really nice, you've done a tidy job. Any new owner should be pleased to own it, as long as they bring it back to you for repairs and servicing. I know that feeling of hesitation when you've put all the work in, and someone asks to buy it. You look at them with a kind of 'hmmm, are you going to look after it like i did????'
Well, I've sold project Speedy & taken this as part of the deal (I must be tapped) lol. She should look nice in green & white
I've got loads of green paint left, so it has to be green Don't know about having the bug, I was just struggling to sell the original project. I had offers of iPhones, air rifles PS4s, but no hard cash. With this I got cash, plus the bike, still not as much as I wanted, but I can buy my new camera now
looks like a Walsall special to me.give it a wash and park it in morrisons car park with a for sale sign .in a few hours it will be sold....or stolen..
