The back light turned up today, so got into the shed after work to be hit by a right ballache. Both of the lugs are broken off on the tail unit I've moved the ignition module in readiness for the new undertray. I strapped it on with a zippy tie to the frame. I've made a couple of brackets & glassed them onto the tail piece. I will see how far out they are tomorrow when it's all dried.
My MTKT Undertray turned up today, not bad saying I bought it from Germany on Thursday. I'm not too pleased with the back light as it doesnt seem to be very bright. I may have a go at swapping the wires around to see if it makes any difference. My measurements weren't far off with the brackets I made. I just need to space the left hand side out just a tad. Now I have a quandry....... Green, or White lol.
Spent today making a tail tidy & trying the bike out. Got a couple of issues. 1, The indicators come on, but don't flash, so think that the flasher unit is knackered 2, the engine seems to be getting very hot (100 degrees after only riding about 2 miles) so will check for air in the system & also the thermostat. I've now glued the clocks together, hence the Zippy ties holding it together. So, it's virtually done. I need some handlebar grips, but that's it really, just hope that I have as much fun riding as I have building it.
very nice! only thing I would change is wind mirrors I would get the wind mirrors off the newer speedfight models but still great bike loved this thread!
dump the mirrors.rear facing cam and a screen.now go fit a trakker.£30 max and your find it if its nicked. L.e.d. lights might need the resistors or an l.e.d flasher to work.
I've ordered the L.E.D. flasher after reading up about it. Thinking of going back to the original mirrors, but didn't think about colour coding..... That might be my job for today
I know its probably the right ones but them tyres look too skinny especially the back one and looks like its sitting dead high
Right, well, I've painted the old mirrors & Quite like them, so they will be stopoping. I also checked the spark plug. She seems to be running a bit rich, which i don't mind while I run it in a little. I also opened the coolant bleed screw on the top of the engine to be greeted by a "Pssssst", so looks like she had an airlock. I've bled it through now, had it running in the shed ticking over & revving it up for a good 10 minutes & it never went over 74 degrees, so that's hopefully solved the overheating problem.
Yep - you need to bleed the system when you've changed your motor etc and you put new in. If the pressure keeps coming back, it's a sure sign the head gasket is on the way out.
Ooops, looks like I may have a problem with the Speedy. i took it out last night, she was running ok for about 1/2 a mile, then the temperature rose quite rapidly again. I stopped to let it cool down then headed off home. The Speedy then lost power & wouldn't pull above 6000 rpm, so I ended up pushing it the rest of the way. I will strip the barrel tonight to see what has happened. I'm hoping not too much seeing as I didn't travel too far, but knowing my luck I'll be on the hunt for a new piston & barrel.
