Been busy over the last couple of days, but did get time to play in the shed. I really need to tidy my bench off, it's looking a bit full :)

Fitted the crapflap & spark plug lead.

I took the belt cover off to fit the new kickstart assembly, so thought I'd fit the new variator weights from 6g to 7.5g
    [IMG]

Also done a bit of painting.

& dryfitted the front end & footboards. It's looking something like now

Really wasn't feeling like doing much today, so mocked it up to try & give me a bit of incentive...... It didn't work, so I've left well alone tonight. I'm supposed to be racing next Saturday & the Kwak has sat unloved, so need to spend some time on that, I'll see how I feel in the morning :)

The Speedy had the bodywork removed, bellypan painted & refitted most of it. I do have 1 problem, the Vivacity forks are hitting the Speedfight's headlights when I put it on full lock, so, if anybody knows why, please let me know.
Want to get hold of some plastic to make an undertray, so am asking around my builder/ double glazing mates to see if they can get me some. I've got a Gixxer 1000 tail light that I want to have a go at fitting & also a carbon Fibre mudgaurd off the same bike that I will have a go at modifying. Also, seem to have a problem with coolant. Should there be a hole at the top of the expansion bottle, or does it just circulate round?
Anyway, here's some pics of it's first time outside since the rebuild.

I'll see what it's like once I've ridden it :)
Right, well, today was all about messing with carbon fibre mudgaurds & being disappointed at the end. Like I said in the last post, I had a carbon front mudgaurd from a Gixxer 1000 K1 & thought i might be able to do something with it. So, while the tailpiece paint was drying, I set about with a hacksaw & dremel.

After hacking away with the hacksaw & test fitting i got to this stage. The Metal X side pieces came in handy.

I tidied it up, drilled the holes & fitted it to the bike. As you can see, there are some nasty cracks in it, which I thought were just the laquer, as you can see later, i was wrong :(
    [IMG]

I painted up the Metal X side pieces black because they have lots of Glass Fibre cracks in them I sanded & Laquered the mudgaurd. This is where I got cheesed off because the cracks go all the way through, so will have to find a sticker to cover it (but I know it's there which will bug me big time).

I cut the back of the mudgaurd off & will try to adapt something to make it look cleaner than it is.

I do like the look of it though :)

So, next installment will be how to fit this little tinker & make a rear undertray.

Nice looking speedy, and a bargain on the cylinder, if your running premix use 40-1 on the first tank to break in bore, then 50-1. Keep em coming

I really like this project too, I "worked" on my scoot this weekend, by that I mean I pointed the hose at it when I washed the car

Hahaa, mines stripped back down to do some extensive case flowing and cylinder porting ;) for summer then big lc conversion after. But I like this speedy for the fact of the front mudguard. Mine doesn't have one :(

Brought some 3mm aluminium plate from work, but it is way too thick to work with, so am still on the hunt for some plastic sheeting to make the undertray.
I did have a quick play on the ped today to see how she runs, I'm quite impressed on the acceleration. Can't wait to get it out on the road.

    Started on the wheels today.
The front was a right mess, so after 4 hours on paint stripper & sanding i got it down to something like & started to paint them. I've gone & rushed them, so will be sanding them down tomorrow & making a better job. Can't make my mind up if I like them or not.

I like them. Sand the living excrement out of them and then paint! MHR POWAAAA! Handy tip - sanding flappy wheels and some turps to lube are your friend.

Ooh, i quite like that . Just tidying the rear
    [IMG]

So, that's the wheels sorted. The rear does have a run in it, but I'm not faffing around any more with them.

Quite like it to be honest, didn't think I would, but it seems to work.

I've also painted the clock surround black to fit with the theme.

Seeing as I was supposed to be racing today, I've done a bloody good job of being in the shed all day. Shite at home stopped me from going to 3 Sisters, so was in a bad mood & set-to & got a lot done.
Found out where the forks were catching......Care of my angle Grinder, They're not now ;)

I've also filled the indicators into the bodywork, just waiting for my new indicators to arrive.

Haven't been messing for a couple of days, but did get out in the shed tonight. I'm having real issues with the kickstart assembly. It either catches on the variator, or siezes solid when I try to press the kick start, so I've left the smaller gear out & I'll use the electric starter. Belt cover is also fitted now & looks really nice. The only part that I haven't touched is the undertray. I'm still on the lookout for some plastic to make one. i have been looking at buying one, but really do want to fit the GSXR tail light as it's a bit different.
So, I'm at stalemate now, everything that can be done has, just waiting for my LED Indicators from Hong Kong & will keep an eye out for something to make the undertray.

with the kickstart, whip the little spring clip off the little gear thing, and clean up where its spins, then use a tiny drop of engine oil around the inner surface of the spring clip and the outer of the gear (if that makes sense?)
