That's it, but that's a piaggio one and not a Morini.
That little sticky out bit of the spring thing needs to be at about the 7 o'clock position in that bit there.
Looks like the mechanic put it in wrong and you just followed what he did.
I use a tiny bit of engine oil on that kick-start gear thing, as it clings to it and doesn't get on the belt. Grease will work too.

I really like that you went from knowing nothing about bikes to being able to take your kick start apart.
Saves loads of money if you can fix things yourself

I don’t have any grease and don’t want to buy some tbh...

Can you please use arrows or something to show me where the spring thing should be positioned?

    Second to last pic,
The sticky out bit of the spring is at about 3 o'clock position.
It needs to be at about 7 o'clock ish.
It will only go in one way there.

I’ve uploaded a pic. Should it go in that little compartment then?

    That’s 7 o’clock mate...

Also, I’ve just re charged the battery and it sounds like it wants tk start but won’t...

I had the auto choke replaced recently...

Did you have a look at the pic I uploaded with the arrows? Is that the correct position?

As soon as the battery has fully charged I’m going tk try and start it...

    I’ve ordered some parts also...

Ahah at the most crucial part you haven’t replied mate!

I sent to you an updated pic. Where I put the arrow is that where the position of the spring should go?

You need to get the electric start working, kick start is emergency start only, check top end, reeds, air leaks, clean carb etc. might need a set of rings and seals !

Mate my mechanical skills are at a beginners level. I’m literally learning as I go...

I’m charging the battery and it appears to be working via electric start...

There's alway's a knack to starting these scooters, while it's cranking over just open the throttle slowly a little, see how it goes. Is it flooding bofore trying to start it? float height?

I know it’s nothing serious with this bike also.

    Yeh I agree.

I charged the battery and fitted the pinion spring intro he correct position and when starting the bike using the electric start it sounded great but wouldn’t start. The oil light came on which happened before. There’s plenty of oil though?

I tried the kick start but it wouldn’t work and now makes a cracking sound like someone mentioned earlier from the kick start as if somethings nt right...

I can put back the pinion spring back into place again and try the electric start one more time but why is the oil light showing??

    One thing you can do.
Take the spark plug out and turn the engine over a fair few times without the spark plug in.

This will get all the fuel out if you've flooded it.

Put the plug back in and try and start it again.

Try another new spark plug too. They don't like to be tried to start too many times if you follow me?

I’ll try the thing with dumping out excess fuel by removing the spark plug but I don’t really want to buy another spark plug...

I’ll let you know what happens

Should I just turn the engine over using the electric start or should I also give it some revs using the throttle or not?

I’ve also contacted oed let’s via their online form and am waiting for a reply.

Do I turn it over using the electric start only or should I use some throttle also?
