Not at all! I’ll try it and report back! I’m just saying I highly doubt it will do anything.

It's just a bit of rain! If you want continued support here I'd definitely do what Sam's suggesting bud.

You must be kidding! There's no way on earth I'd do that. It would be gone in a jiffy.

I brought the petrol but it’s too wet and miserable where I am atm. Sonia postponed. In the meantime I’ve booked it in with Steve cook motorcycles. For £40 he’s going to have a look and see ether it can be fixed. Then it’s £40 per hour.

Really? Is it a very nice bike? I’m about to remove the theft part of my policy and have third party only and will get back £100 because I was informed despite me paying £900 for the bike if they value it less or close (yes even if it’s say £100 over my excess!) of £500 then they won’t pay out or worse I might be losing money! At the end of the day it comes down to what they value the bike at. But if I get excess protection for an extra £50 something pounds I will get the excess back so then it might be worth it but they scared me by saying not automatically because if they decide the value is close to the excess they won’t pay out!

But you misunderstood me. Recovery is exactly what I was waiting for, my point being it took over 3 hours for the idiot to arrive, he diagnosed the problem incorrectly, causing further damage to the bike and then dumped me and the scoot outside the CLOSED garage I normally use cause we were so late thanks to him, they had just closed and he couldn't be bothered to check there closing time. Hr then said there was nothing else he could do and he disappeared into the sunset. So I left the bike outside the garage not knowing it would still be on Monday (but thank god it was, its a quietish industrial estate with CCTV everywhere, and where I live couldn't be described as the crime capital of the world hahaha) and I took at taxi back to mine at great expense as the girlfriend was away. So I threatened to sue the breakdown company I am a member of and got compensated handsomely in the end, and I thoroughly deserved it. When I feel I've been done over I'm like a dog without a bone, and because of my doggedness in pursuing the matter I finally got the biggest bone on offer so all ended happily ever after, kind of. Still have a bitter taste in my mouth though. Anyway I've been through this story before so feel I'm just repeating myself. There's a lot more to it which I won't bore you with.
So how's it going? Do you do as Sam suggested and if so what was the outcome mate?

Lol yeh I do that too when I have been done over! I’m going to put some petrol in the spark plug hole and also top up the petrol tank and see if that works. I’ve booked it in for next week with someone also.

Did you or anyone read about my insurance policy?

What are the chances dyu all think that someone would steal a 2001 aprilia mojito custom 50? Because I’m thinking of changing my policy to just third party and get back £100 because the way the insurance company are talking they have sort of convinced me that I may not get my money back in the event of a claim if they value my bike close l, near or less than my excess of £500.

I could spend a further 50 something pounds to get excess protection but then that still doesn’t make a difference if they value the bike close to £500 they said they might decide not to pay out since the value is close to the excess.

I really don’t know what to do because I know bike theft happens especially in London where I am and even a mate of mine years ago had his typhoon 50 robbed almost right outside his house whilst he was using it and they even slapped his helmet off his head and took that!

Thing is, I’ve got a an aprilia mojito which is less desirable to ppl isn’t it?

For example, you always hear of people stealing nrg’s, typhoons, dna’s, yamaha’s Etc.. but I’m hoping the classic looking mojito won’t be wanted? I mean I don’t really like saying this but I’ve seen ally of girls riding it at least online and in a movie also.

Everyone I’ve seen in real life who owns one has been male tjough...

You have raised some very interesting questions. I will have to process and think about it before replying. My brain is frazzled.

I’m assuming you all must have theft included in your covers?

I only have a 59cc scooter so my situation is different...

Of course sir. (link removed as doesn't work) That's my little beast. It's good for about 65mph. Noisy as hell though so you might not like it. And a high seat so you are leaning forward somewhat. All together a very different beast to your beast but no better, no worse just different. I want to get an Aerox now anyway. Does that link work for you btw? It's a screenshot. Anyway I'm gonna hit the sack, I'm in the doghouse and I'm more bushed than my local garden centre.

    The image didn’t come through.

65mph is not Too bad! I currently top out at around 45mph but haven’t had a long enough road to see whether it will go faster.

I reckon once I get bored I might just sell it and get the 125cc. Apparently that does 55 to 65 mph easily and can go on motorways once a full license is obtained if I’m correct. Not sure I might be able to go on it already?

Plus I like the way it sounds over the 50cc. Sounds almost like a chopper with that deeper more refined sound plus when you put the right aftermarket exhaust it really sounds even better!

Yeh aerox’s are very good scooters. Sporty. One of the better ones for sure.

I always wanted a Peugeot jetforce darkside. I think it’s the best looking per out there but unfortunately they don’t sell them in the uk otherwise I’d probably be riding that instead on the mojito.

It reads 65 anyway but I think that's rather optimistic. It doesn't actually feel like 65. You've got a great bike, I would stick with it for a while.

    Thanks. I will.

You got that pic of your bike? The link you sent didn’t work?

Update: I put petrol in the spark plug hole and topped up the tank nothing happened. I recheck the spark plug to make sure it was in portals and put a bit more petrol in the tank and nothing happened. For a split second on the third try using the electric start it sounded like it was going to start and sounded like it did before it stopped working but then nothing.

I’ve exhausted all my knowledge now so I just have to wait for the mechanic to come and pick it up on Friday which means it will be two weeks total of me not riding it! And I just got it but oh well.

I really want to know what’s bloody wrong with it!

Sounds like either reeds or the rings/cylinder are gone to me.
So by doing these tests you found it has a spark.
And by putting fuel into the spark plug hole, you are eliminating the carburettor.

So it's got fuel, and spark. But it still won't fire, which leaves compression.

Compression is made by the rings pressing against the cylinder. If either is worn out or damaged it won't have any compression.
Damaged reeds will also upset the compression as the air/fuel mix can go back out the carburettor.

Are either the reeds or the rings/cylinder expensive to replace and labour on?

Yeah they can be. Reeds are maybe only £1 in parts, but the intake needs to come off which is maybe 30 mine work.
Cylinder is pretty expensive in parts and labour.

No but can take some today if you like, but quite honestly it looks like any other bog standard speedfight and they are ten a penny. So what's the latest news? I'd be tempted to take the intake off myself before your mechanic arrives. This'll save you some on labour.
