I don’t know if this has been suggested already but have tried putting a very small amount of fuel in the spark plug hole ?

If you try that and it starts least you’ve narrowed it down to a fuelling prob and we can go from there

When I took the spark plug out I put my finger in the hole (think it’s the carb?) tk check for fuel and there was fuel...

I meant start rescue my mistake. www.startrescue.co.uk but you can't just join when it's not working otherwise everyone would do that. You're bike has to be in full working order when you become a new member.

No don't do that, that's crazy. Phone one of these mobile mechanics in your area that I suggested. They will come to you if still can't manage to fix it. Or phone a garage directly and they may well come and pick it up. But seriously don't phone Anyvan.

I didn’t say I would I just said what they quoted me which I think is way to high and so is £50 from the other guy.

I’ve contacted several mobile mechanics, waiting for a reply. One was away the other too far so a few more to respond.

I have a garage which I took my bike to once which I will try and see whether they can come to me but I doubt it.

You could try one of these national outfits like SOS Motorcycles but personally I would recommend going for a local fella. If you are in SW London I can get my brother to suggest some places as he's always breaking his bikes, well they breakdown a lot anyway cause he abuses them.

I’ve just messaged them. Waiting in reply. How hard can it be to find an affordable mobile mechanic in London!

I’m thinking £25 to £30 call out fee then perhaps another £20-£30 for repair labour not including any parts that sound about right or is that too little too much?

Also, I remember when I asked several mechanics to come for my bike chain but I deleted their numbers! One wanted £30 call out plus I can’t member how much per hour...

Yeah it won't be cheap worst luck. London prices and wotnot, and I thought Cambridge was bad. Well it is bad but at least in London you have many more to choose from. This is why when I get the time I want to go on a motorcycle maintainance course.

This is why I'm a mechanic, not the call out charge I mean, but because its so difficult if you break down.

Ive tried to fix the bike myself but it's not happening, The spakr plug seem sok and so does the battery...

Someone advised to clena out the jet and have a look at the carb but that;s when my knowledge is exceeded and i CBA to look it up onoine and take the bike apart again so might aswell pay a proffesional to do it also i migh ask them to see whther its derestricted.

No because as I said I put my finger in the hole and it was a bit wet and smelt of petrol so I’m assuming it’s getting petrol tit eh spark plug. Plus, it smells of petrol when I try to start it on the electric start and the kick start so I’m guessing that means petrol is running through the system as it should be.

Thing is, the bike is in good condition and I don’t see it having any issues. I hope it’s not something stupid like when I couldn't get it started because the kill switch was off!

I’ve tried that and this time it’s not that unfortunately.

Sorry, not trying to make light of it but you have to look on the bright side. Could be worse - at least this all happened at home. No fun being stuck on the side of a busy main road for hours on end waiting for a mechanic / recovery driver who completely misdiagnoses the fault, and then leaves me stranded again outside a garage on a Saturday that had just closed because he couldn't be arsed to checked their opening times for me. I feel 100% better after that little rant :)

Hahaha is that from Homes and Watson? I saw that movie in the cinema. It had a few laughs.

Do you really think it’s worth it because as I said I checked the spark plug hole and there seemed to be a small amount of wet fuel there already. How is best to put petrol in the hole without causing damage to anything or the spark plug? What about a pipet?

While I’m at it I might too up the petrol as it’s low but still has some? Imagine if it just needs petrol! It’s showing as low but just about in the red so that should be more than enough especially on a scooter as it doesn’t need a lot of petrol in the first place.

Wow. That must have sucked! If that was me I’d roll it to the nearest side road, lock it up and leave it there until I found either a mobile mechanic or a scooter recovery/deliver driver to deal with it.

It’s not 15 seconds. I have to go buy the petrol then I do the spark plug then test it all just so it makes no difference!

Putting some petrol in the spark plug hole and also topping up the tank... I’m probably going to do it anyway but just saying I don’t think it will make any difference that’s why I cba.

Can’t do it now anyway as it’s raining.
