It kills the engine so you don't ride off with the side stand down. You're not looking for a physical switch on the stand itself, it would be connected to your main electrical system.

Yeah. What milo said. Sit on the bike and flick the stand back up. See if it starts.

It’s not a side stand it’s a scooter stand you know the type that you have to sort of rock back and forth and build up momentum for the bike to go on it’s stand.

I’ll try it though. Don’t mopeds start both on and off their stands though?

Centre stand. Yeah it should start up or down (unless you kickstart it where it has to be down on my bike or something gets in the way, can't remember what though)

I’ve just tried it with the stand down and for a Split second it sounds like it was going to start but then nothing. Still just sounding like it won’t start...

I’ve not been able to kick start it as I’m not very good at it this being my first scooter.

If it ain’t start in the kick start what does that mean and if it does start in the kick starter what does that mean?

It means if it does start you're all good but if it doesn't you're f**ked.

Ha that’s not what I meant! I meant if it starts in the kick start but not in electric then what’s wrong with it?

If the dork plug is kaput then it won’t start even using the kick start is that right? Because I’m hoping it’s just the spark plug as that’s easy to fix

Ok so after trying to start it on the kick starter it won’t start however when I tried the electric start again after kickstarting it several times it almost sounded like it was going to start but then didn’t. Is this any clues as to why the issue is? Please say it is! What is it?

I'm wondering if it's ran without oil from the previous owner maybe?
My advice is to get a new spark plug

What does it mean if it started for about half a second then cut out of the kick start?

Looks like I’m going to have to disable the inside of the seat to get tit he spark plug and test that next...

So the kickstart hits the centre stand when the centre stand it up, making it inoperable, I guess for safety reasons. And although it works on the first kick every time it always gets stuck in the down position so I have to push it back up after I use it ( the kickstart not the centre stand that is). I don't even know why I use it, guess it's a case of use it or lose it. Needs a good bit of TLC in the form of a dash of GT-85. I read that it's better than WD-40 as it also acts as a lube whereas WD-40, I think that's more to unseize whatever have has seized. But I'm cautious of google now, I've read things on there that are blatant untruths and fake news.

Without looking at it it's very difficult to diagnose the problem. Have you taken it to a mechanic / garage yet? Do you have homestart breakdown cover? I've been busy so haven't been keeping up with this like I meant to.

Not yet as I was hoping I could fix it myself for free!

I don’t have homestart breakdown cover.

That’s fine mate thanks for replying anyway.

I spent over 3 hours just now taking the bike apart (panels) and realised after all I had to bloody do was take off the inspection plate my fault for rushing into things and not thinking as I was aware of the inspection plate but forgot about it!

I checked the spark plug and it was firing. The spark was small but I think that’s just how it is.

Anyhow now I’m worried I didn’t put it back properly but I checked and it was right in there so does that mean it’s fine in there properly again?

I’m going to have to just call a mechanic but thing is I have no way of getting it there!

What do you all do or what is the thing to do when you have a scooter that doesn’t start that needs a mechanic? Anyvan quoted me £75 and another delivery company £50 just to take it 4.6 miles!

You've got yourself in a right pickle! Obviously you want to fix it for free but I strongly suggest you get you're wallet out and have a mechanic look at it before things can get any worse. There will be loads of mobile mechanics in London, just ring a couple and see what they charge for call out. Bare in mind most garages in the south east will charge at least 50 ph labour and I'm not even talking about official franchises. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. I would also seriously think about homestart breakdown cover. My one is a little over £50 per annum - really can't grumble with that. Cheap as chips (I use SureStart but there are dozens). I mean what would you if you broke down 10 miles from home? I doubt your mum could come and sling it in the back of her car. Sometimes you gotta be realistic about your own abilities (hence why I got breakdown cover). Also you really should get a workshop manual like various members have already suggested. You have internet so if you are seriously strapped for cash why not check out the site Scuba suggested where you can download one online. With respect no more excuses buddy - I expect it to be back on the road by the end of the bank holiday :)
