That melted variator is awsome!....in a twisted sorta way.

My tale of woe was from having a newly installed 70kit that brought out a problem of stuffed bearings in the gearbox.
Being new to 2-strokes back then I didn't know what the hell was going on, & it took me ages to find some reliability from the set-up.

The pic below is a sieze after bombing down "The Range" at over 60mph, & then getting out on the flat, the bike came to an abrupt skidding halt.....the back wheel semi-locked & flat spotted the tyre all the way round.
Cold seize? Lean seize? Too hard too soon? Carburation prob from rapid descent?......I didn't find the answer till I got another belt on there, & cleaned up some scoring on the cylinder.

A brand new Malossi belt had less than 3miles usage when it shredded

The penny dropped when I had hot gearbox oil bubbling out of a leak....very black boiled & very stinky.

It was a "good exercise" (No pain: no gain etc) to go through to try figure out WTF was going on, & like I said, there were over lapping issues.

    Rob :D
