its not the kit obviously so ye theres some things id like to know too.... like are you running a centre bearing on this or is there just a seal to keep the crankcases seperate? would love to see pics of the centre section of case. looking good tho, REAL good :hello:
i try and use standard parts, so i ues two 125 engine cases, its 2 engines that just bolt to gether with the same 7 bolts as norm, the cranks this time have had a male peg pressed in the crank, the spline turned down to make that peg and the cranks r bored out, if any one whats to no more u can allways bell me 01472 371253 Dave Briggs,
i bet this thing sound awsomeeeee !!!! and a 1 off dont think u would ever see any think like this on the road !!!! amazin keep the work up mate
nice work on the cranks i noticed you were useing two motors like that looks way better then them kits.
so it has an "open" space at the centre where the crank's join? a day in your workshop would be a REAL day out i recon LOL keep it up, keep the pics comming im sure you'r aware people seeing your work doesent mean people can copy it :good:
Hi yes u r right, its one thing looking and another doing it, will post more pics when i get some more done, lumps in the frame now,i wud like 50bhp,as last one was 46, but we will c when and if it gos on the dyno, as cranks may give out at any time,
well, as far as i see the weak point is the join in the crank.. each is supported by 2 bearings as usual (yes?) so the output shaft of the right side crank actually has less stress than if a variator is on there. obviously the load is passed onto the second half. it certianly is a smarter way of doing it as the "twin kits" are prittymuch made to explode into a million peices, where as this has the obvious strain on the vartiator section but the centre should actually be stronger than a single crank in an engine. (in theory) keep it up, share what your happy to, the more the better. just out of curiosity what spec were the last 2 barrels to make 46?
23 for each is about bolt on, 172,long stroke,pm59 and 25mill carb, all x2, got me to 93mph at elvington,13.5sec quarter,it was in a lammy body, not sprinted for 30years as last time was at pod in 1978,where i got a 15.6 quarter,on cut down lammy,
depends who's dyno you use... dyna pro's wil show about 18 on a bolt on setup tbh. but ye, to get an extra few horses is pritty easy as you have the gains halfable by the barrel and the lososes halfed by only having one set of transmission. 60bhp (on the same dyno) is easily attainable if thats what you got bolt on impressive time/speed on the quarter ether way, reliable as hell cylinders pushing times a high spec barrel would. gotta love twins LOL
loving the progress... surely it only needs the support arm and ignition sorting now? id honestly ditch the spacer block's and run short inlets wiht stock reedblocks... but thas just me. keep it up, cant wait to see a vid :clapping:
just need to get the wheels back, support arm is there, just got to make a block for the shocker to fix to, ignition is all done, u may b right about inlets, twr get a boost with the rd350 reeds in, glad u like,
