as the float bowl fills from the tank it lifts the float. This in turn raises the float needle into the jet to close off further fuel. As the piston sucks in the charge and the throttle slide lifts the sliding needle out the jet it allows fuel to be sucked through the hole in the jet into the incoming air stream and atomized. If the mixture to fuel ratio is set right, it'll then ignite when its compressed and sparked. Then as the fuels used the float drops to allow the needle to let more fuel into the bowl. Hope that makes sense.... You mentioned cleaning the carb. Was it just externally and you tipped it upside down and around??? If so it could be small amounts of debris that collected in the bottom of the float bowl thats now found their way into the holes in the jets and blocked them., so you'll probably need to take the float bowl off and check things out. Do it on some cardboard or a surface where you can easily find any small bits if you drop anything. Its a good idea to fit an inline fuel filter if you dont have one
That made a lot of sense.. Where have you been! When I cleaned it I took the whole thing apart but I just this one second taken it apart again making sure all jets are clear and no crap in the float bowl. Put it back together and dome what you said.. Put my fingers over the carb and they are getting a little bit wet. But still won't start. I checked the spark and its strong as its a new plug but I'm guessing I've got to get the mixture right... How do I do that?! Got the idle screw and another little one next to where the filter goes on.. Thanks for your help though mate it made the most sense and I'm getting somewhere
could try a bit of easy start down the inlet as you crank it over and try a compression test if you have access to a tester. Not sure about the mixture and how to set it. The things i've been describing are same for most small bike carbs but you really need the specific settings for your own make of bike air screw X amount of turns out etc to set a base setting and then adjust from there. Sure someone around here has the info that you need
I don't have a compression tester but after kicking it for about an hour the fuel is finally down the tube to the oil pump although I don't know why it goes there lol. It sounds like it wants to start when I'm kicking it now but it just won't Any one got any suggestions?
Yup.. Its going into the carb and float bowl just won't start. I've cleaned out the carb jets today too. When I took the spark plug out it was wet.
I'll pay any biker in essex or London that can get to waltham abbey to get my bike sorted. Its prob something simple but I obv can't start it to get it to a bike shop
the 2 stroke oil should be going down the toob to the carb from the oil pump...that in turn is supplied by the 2 stroke tank if its autolube. Dry the plug on the gas cooker flame and give it another try...it may be flooded. Is it auto choke? is the cable connected and the choke working OK coz it'll need a rich mixture to get it started from cold i'm running out of ideas here without the bike in front of me
it has two tubes to the oil pump, but the 2 stroke goes straight from the tank to the pump I sure, as there's no where to put it into the carb anyway. This shitty weather is ruining my day off as I'm not sitting outside in the rain lol I have an electric cooker so I held the plug over the flame off my lighter, dried it out and put it back in trying again. It sounds like it wants to start and its winding me up! If only you lived closer aye. It does have an auto choke and I don't see why it wouldn't work tbh. Either way it should atleast start right?
