And where did you hear that then sir ? A Sport kit will run perfectly fine on a airbox, It is only when you get on too 15bhp+ When they need more air than the airbox can give.
fuck sake.... new ignition, cleaned carb, new fuel and it still dies, it even over heated earlier....
any ideas why it overheated? the filling bottle thing on the bike was empty but it still had water init, so im kinda asuming it had an airlock init but i still dont get where the water went because theres no leaks?
I had problems with mine reving out when i put my 70 kit on etc, tried everything, different rollers, CDi, jets etc, it drove me mad. It was only by luck that we checked an earth cable at the bottom of the flywheel by the rotor to do with the rotor wiring i assume. Tightened it only slightly and it reved out perfectly. It just needed to get a clean earth i assume. Something as simple as that caused all those problems
where would i find this earth cable? ive never touched anything in the botttom end, other than just taking the cover off
I think there is one under by the electric starter motor and the one i was talking about was at the bottom of the flywheel area screwed into the casing, its part of the rotor wiring etc. If im wrong someone on here will correct me
i took the cover off so i could see the stator, and i couldnt see any wires screwed into the case or anything. its still being a cunt of a bike, i almost took it to a shop for a diagnosis until they said it would be £45 and hour even if they didnt fix it.... so fuckk right off! well im gonna try the old miniscule carb again to see if this ones knackered, failing that its all coming apart, engine on my bedroom table and being stripped right down to the last bolt!
My mate had a 172 nrg and it just wouldn't start for shit, he took the air box and it started straight up, he put it back on while bike was ticking over and it died straight down, thats the only experience i have though i run with "nearly" fully kitted 70cc typhoon with no air filter
There's a difference between a 172 and a 70cc though ? Big piston/bigger barrel aka more fuel and air than a 70 ? I ran a 11bhp kit on a airbox and it ran fine ?
Off topic but sounds more like it wasn't set up for the airbox tbh. Just having fuel and air isn't enough they need to be at an exact ratio. I had the airbox on my 172 for like a year no problem.
