Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. Where can I get some bolts from? I'm not trolling / being dumb, I genuinely don't have a clue. If I could buy brand new bolts for every single part of my bike, I would do, just to stop things like this happening.. Thanks very much
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. same ere i dont think their is a place that sells bolts for the hole bike im using bolts i got on ebay cheap 1s but not the best
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. Do u have a local bike shop near? Just go in there and ask for exhaust studs or ask for M6 bolts as most bikes have a 6mm threaded bolts and that's what a few people know them as lol
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. ok thanks, I will. But what about the rest of my bike? Ideally the whole thing could do with new bolts if they're all going to be that flimsy! One day I will be riding and something will just fall off :rotfl:
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. Depends what ya mean, cus alot of the screws are just phillips screws for panels but best thing would be to take off the old bolts u want replacing and go into local scoot shop or diy store and ask if they have anything similar
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. I will try upload pics but probably won't be able to, the exhaust studs are like this: /// <---- thread /// /// | | <---- flat bit with no thread | | /// <---- thread again /// ---- <---- Bolt | | ---- /// <---- thread or something similar anyway, is that standard then?
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. lol unless they all fall to pieces before I can remove one to use as an example, thanks anyway
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. My exhaust studs were similar to this after my old ones snapped... http://www.lrdperformance.com/images/M6 SHCS.jpg ....only cost me like 20p lol
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. The one you're describing sounds like this... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...=1t:429,r:0,s:31&tx=42&ty=56&biw=1024&bih=497 .... which is more like what a Lambretta would have lol
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. yer that's pretty much it :yahoo: Thanks very much, Beedspeed is literally round the corner from me as well...off there to get some studs now
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. Aww, good feelings gone. Just remembered I still have most of a thread stuck that needs drilling out
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. Ahh sweet man  Dont worry, just drill it out well bit by bit, shouldn't take 5 mins
Re: Flat spots after carb cleaning.. I didn't drill it... This thread just gets more and more 'fail' by the minute. For about 5 minutes I felt like Albert Einstein, I inserted the other exhaust bolt and screwed it up tight until the stuck bit came to the top (but didn't clear it all so some was still in), so i removed my intact bolt, whipped out a screwdriver and hammer and smashed the little thing to pieces, it went well...in some aspects, I didn't ruin my intact bolt, didn't ruin the threading either....BUT I'll draw & upload a MS Paint drawing.. If the sparkplug goes inside it which I know it does, it seems like it'd be a cylinder inside there or something, but the metal I snapped looks like it doesn't serve much purpose other than to control temperature..I only snapped a small corner off, at least I can get some manifold bolts sorted out now anyway. Hopefully I can have someone confirm I have caused no damage and the engine is still safe.
Re: What did I break? Page 3, thanks Got a 45p exhaust stud that I'm about to fit. Could only get the one, the other half is at work with all the money / bank card Oh well, I have 2 intact studs anyway, a friend told me the part I broke was just a piece of metal that is there to protect the cylinder head from damage so it should be okay. Gonna fit the exhaust and then continue with trying to jet the thing
Fixed. The main jet thingy that the throttle cable fixes to...unscrewed that a few turns and it's letting enough gas in now to stop it from stalling. Seems to have done the trick!
When you pull the throttle, it tugs on a cable that dissapears inside the carb at the top, which opens a big jet thing Anyway it's still broken. It starts on the button and idles correctly but when pulling off, it's not smooth at all. I'll try new jets and get someone to set them up for me
I'm thinking you mean the throttle slide lol Yeah try the jets and tweaking them and see what affect that has
