That vid was not my scooter this was my scooter today below the metallic noise you here is the starter bendix rattling it way out while I hold it with my finger lol when I revved it

I have also just noticed from other posts and vids that the back plate of the variator should not be on if it's being derestricted the washer had been removed but not the plate that's how I bought scooter would that make a difference

The washer should be kept in place on peugeots the restrictors fitted on other brands are more like spacers than a washer. On a pug variator you have the variator itself, the ramp plate which sits on top on the rollers and metal retaining ring held on with 3 screws. The restrictor is a plate which sits between the ramp plate and retainer ring which you should remove to deristrict then reassemble. You need the washer to give correct spacing so everything tightens together properly onto the splines when you do up the nut on the end of the crank.

Oh bugger just realised the plate that's only left is the retaining ring with 3 screws apart from the ramp plate
I guess you leave the retaining ring alone and don't remove

Yes you're right leave that retainer on there else I imagine the variator will disassemble itself as the cvt moves up when you ride! another thing you can maybe do (sorry if its already been mentioned) is remove the belt and rev the bike to higher rpm's to see if its the crank bearings as the transmission wont be functioning at all then. the washer-go on aj sutton website they have exploded veiws of the variator/ crank so you can check if you have all the parts in place.

Yes I did try removing the belt but I didn't here any whirring but it's hard to hear a lot when the scooter vibrates as it reves up and try's to take off on the stand lol

I did just ride it without that retainer plate fitted as I check a few videos on YouTube and they installed it without it

But I guess I better put it on to be safe I guess

I do check ajsutton a lot for that purpose lol

Ah right ive never tried without that retainer in learnt something new today. Good luck finding the suspect noise! Guess if it were me I would take the gearbox apart and spin all the bearings by hand to see if I could hear or feel roughness or like somebody else mentioned check the output shaft for any damage if you havent already done this.

I just had a read through all of this id agree with scubabiker crank bearings as youve changed everything else! If your ped has a fair few miles on it a rebuild wont do it any harm anyway, the one I did must have been easier to tell because the previous owner must have just ridden it till the bearings were completly shagged out.

Yes I beginning to think that as like you say it's pretty much only thing left lol
But the only thing that stoped me from doing it was I've yet too see a YouTube vid yet with a noise I have they normally knock there arse off on the vids unless like you say I'm catching it early

    It's done just over 12k

I've had a 2013 Typhoon in the garage over the winter needing attention. I finished it off this morning and took it for a run round and it's making exactly the same noise lol

Well ordered crank bearings. Taking engine out to night to do it at work as all my tools are there
I still think there is noise from the gearbox when i revved it so i might change gears aswell as mentioned above

Well all out seals look shot can here noise from bearings when spun but didn't have any play when checked before disassembled
So I'll be surprised if this cures the whine I'm getting

    But then I found this

    Hmmm sounds familiar

Ain't that strange................I just came on to say the same thing about the gear up kits.
Some of the earlier straight cut malossi gear-ups used to whine, and I was expecting it when I fitted the new kit to my old zip, but it didn't, or didn't as much so I was told.

Sounds like you may have struck gold there, if the bearings are noisey when you spin them theyre shot should be nice and smooth with no noise dont have to have play in them to be shot. Happy days (hopefully) there mate!

Not sure what to do about piston or rings
There looks to be some brown blow past the rings not sure if to change them while I'm in there or if that's normal
But which means running piston in
I did think about 70cc kit but that will wreck it then I need to change carb/exhaust

If it were me doing it id order a piston kit from pedparts theyre about a tenner ive had one of theirs before and it was fine, plus then you get a new gudgeon pin too which normally wear. Also id chuck in a new small end bearing. Does the bore look in good shape? (No scoring)

Looks reasonable from what I can see if it had good compression before hand, I would carefully remove the rings (very easy to break them) and clean all the carbon off especially in the groves where the rings sit then check the gudgeon pin (the tube bit which connects the piston to the conrod) for any wear and check the crank for any up and down movement in the big end bearing side to side movement is ok. As its all in bits you might as well go over everything ;) whats the bore like? (bit inside cylinder where the piston goes up and down in) should be no score marks.

Yes bore is fine no noticeable score marks was thinking of new rings would you stay with old ones or get new?
No play in crank and conrod not had time to gudgeon pin yet will at dinner

Because a standard piston kit is so cheap if you want to do the rings just change the piston and gudgeon pin aswell theres not much price difference between rings & piston kit. If I were rebuilding on a bike I was using daily I would replace while its all stripped down.
