then try it with the lighter rollers. the 8.5g are 100% too big so don't use them again
you problem now will be jetting, your rollers may need fine tuning but get the jetting right first

yer 40mph is not an unreal speed to expect

just remember if it runs on the 100 jet it may still not be spot on so dont spend all day hammering the bike

i have just seen that a piaggio 50cc with the 17.5 when derestricted will be using a 65 jet, so i think your jet as to be too big. even with a free flow filter it would not go 65 to 100. and now you say the plug is black with normally means its rich.

i think your best bet will to be buy a jet pack around size 75-95 start big and work down

or save a few ££'s as you already have some just and just buy in a few steps you have 80, 100? buy a 70 and 90

if you go to the stock carb you would have to add jets for the exhaust and air filter so ever way you neeed to rejet, and the 17.5 will give you more power

the original vivacity carb setting is this

    Carb Type Gurtner PA370
Pilot screw initial setting 1? turns out from fully screwed in
    Float height not adjustable
    Idle speed 1500 rpm
    starter jet 45
    Pilot jet 42
    Main jet 72
Needle clip position L3035H at top notch

had an issue with the 17.5mm :( snapped the the brass tube thats sticks down in the float chamber
