i run both types as i have classic scooters as well as full face dont really look correct on a classic scooter , you definately need to wear sunglasses , and you have alot more vision when riding with open face , definately prefer the open faced modena helmet when the weather is sunny , but better with full face when its cold and wet , cyclists dont run full faced helmets they would look silly if they did and most road bikes can travel at speeds of restricted scooters or more

sorry but you shouldnt choose a helmet purely on looks, yes your vision may be better but do you really want to scrape your face along a road? safety should come over looks. if people dont like the look of me wearing a full face helmet on a classic scooter they can kiss my rear, yes they look good but how good will you look when your face is covered in tarmac burn ?

Dont do it i got knocked off my nsr at 50mph and skated down the road on my front it pretty much disintegratred the front of my helmet (full faced). Had it been open faced i would have been well and truly f****d

If your still tempted to wear your open face,
Like particulary on nice summer days,
You can get a variety of half baraclava/lower face masks +
wrap around style sunglasses (pre-script?,go dark in sun?),
just make sure there impact/class rated as closer to
    your eyes. :) .

get a full face i had 42 stiches in my face and a fractured cheek bone a shatterd nose that needed to be rebuilt as it was flat, all from an open face, front wheel slide on some oil doing about 15 mph, went down side ways and the wing mirror come straight through my open face lid and exploded in my face

I wanted a half faced helmet, purely for the fact that a full faced wont fit under the seat of my piaggio.

Whats more important - How you look ? or being safe ?

I look like a right moron on my bike, Full greeny blue waterproof suit, Hi vis jacket, bright blue helmet on a bright red bike......... And all of this when Im maxing out at 20mph up a hill !

Its shameful sometimes, But I know im well protected if some c*nt in a car doesnt look long enough at a junction.

Thats the thing with being a bike rider, you have to think for yourself and think on behalf of the car drivers too!
