nah nobody on here has, as far as i know, minor probably has or has looked into it and some others may have bodged it, but because your bike is a minter you need to make it looked good or it will ruin the bike. what you can do is completely drain the coolant and make sure you are using fresh, correct ratio, coolant. If the temps are still up there you need to look into setting up a good double rad setup. Another thing you could do is use those inline radiators, the small ones, if you had one of those on each side of the water system, possibly somewhere visible or with good airflow atleast
cheers for the help sw1ft... i found 2 radiators, one 125 one and a 50 one..the 125 rad i couldnt find anywheeereee to mount so i used the 50 one which just fits in below the original one... i also put one of them inline cooling things you were talking about on there and some proper coolant, the temperature is nice now doesnt get half a hot as it did.. The end cans are anodised they come either in strips like that one or in little splashes sort of thing (like what this bike had on before , or even some of my other bikes might of had them if u can find the thread on here 'lees bikes') http://www.scootershack.co.uk/viewtopic ... c&start=30 If anyone wants them done i dont mind getting them sorted for you, pm or something and i will give you details.
Two-stroke engines have a tendency to get hot or seize when the power is being reduced after a full power situation or a long run. At full power the engine may be able to overcome increasing friction of the expanding piston in the cylinder, but when the power is reduced, and the engine can no longer overcome the increasing friction, the engine gets very hot and potentially can seize. What you need to do is or blip the throttle a lot to keep the cylinder cool at the traffic lights or better still find somewhere where you can pull over and turn it off allowing it to cool down.
the level of throttle or engine rpm has nothing to do with the cooling of the engine in lees case, electric water pump provides the same flow regardless. if you're going to make your first post a preach like that i think you should atleast give reasons, why does the power being reduced mean the engine increases in temperature? im not trying to shoot you down, i know what you're saying, you just havnt said it very well at all and for your first post you're coming across quite badly, i would introduce yourself first.
It's a shame kevin aint a member on this site he would be your man to ask on this...He used to sprint at x-race and had a 35bhp dragster that ran on a electric water pump and that engine was frezzing it NEVER was hot ever the pipes engine everything was ice cold but the pump was loud well a bit but used to work better than any cooling system i ever saw on a scoot...Lee you need to try and find out what he was doing as it can be done right?
Yeah maybe but all i no it was cold as fuck like ice cold and it always was no matter how long the engine was runing for i think he had the same system on his red glitter runner aswell....
well i got insured yesterday and went on a little drive, got to the lights and felt my barrel was quite hot and i needed petrol anyway so i pulled into tescos... checked my mates barrel on his runner and his was like twice as hot as mine, i think im just getting paranoid of it over heating for some reason, seems to be running nice apart from jet is slightly wrong, might try a 108 instead of a 110. Got mot on tuesday so i might actually be legit on it does anyone know if my headlights would be a problem for the mot?? i think as long as there not too high it should be ok???
Yeah they have to be adjusted ones ( standard ones ) Slip the mot guy a tenner im sure he will pass them
Lee have you changed your waterpump yet ? there is some 1 selling 1 for 15quid mate off a mercedes ? bosch 1 talk on msn if you want it .
