ive used Easy start on 2 strokes since the late 80's!! if you have to use Easy start, then obviously somethings wrong... i.e An engine is designed to work without having to squirt easy start down the carb but having said that, ive gone through 2 winters with a scooter with no choke, scoot parked outside all day, and a chug of easy start in the airbox for a chokeless -0 degrees start up The trick is to buy "Bradex Easy start" as it has an upper cylinder lubricant, and is 2 stroke safe.... Any other copys, like "Holts Cold Start" for example, hasnt got an upper cylinder lubricant, and actually says on the tin: "Not recommended for 2 stroke engines"
who's bike...joes ? yep if you have to resort to Easy start, theres a problem that needs sorting out, in my case i had no choke...using a 20.5mm carb on a 70cc with a blanked off e-choke... and yep your quite right, worn rings will cause hard starting...and is pretty cheap and simple to fix
blanked off choke's mean its always on..... hence the trouble starting, better to leave them in place and unplugged.
no no no i cut the plastic top off mine, super glued the plunger in the off position (down) then resealed it with jb weld hense no choke :nerd:
ha haaaaa i just bunged the 50 one in mine. worked a treat, just have to turn it on an wait 30 seconds in the cold. ah well, got a real carb on there now ay but ye, easy start if you like, but its up to you. ive never seen a need as if it wont start somthings broken, if you start wiht this stuff and it manages to run your only gonna make more work for yourself
Surely thats wrong as the choke will still always be on as well... the choke needs a power supply, to heat up, expand and then shut the choke off... Can you not fit a manual choke lever like the dellorto carbs on the geared 50s like sendas etc?
