it dont really matter if you can see the bulb or not, light shining from your bike other than lights that should be there are illegal end of. you can have em, but there for parking use only.

strobes are another matter, need a licence to run a strobe in public as it can kill people with photosensitive epilepsy. not a good idea really so dont even reply with sily comments about them.

i want neons lol! so i thought id bring up the whole subject all over again, ive thought about ways to dodge the law, and found some loopholes lol!

NOW: if you wire a red neon with your rear brake light, it will only work when the rear brake light works, making it acceptable as a functional light and the same with a white one on the front being wired with your headlight, as this can also be argued as functional, it is however not legal to have blue, ever, and it is not legal to have the actual bulb showing enough to distract other drivers.

but to have to have the brake light on to use your rear neons is BORING, so if it is done this way, have it wired so the light can work with the brakes, but can also work indipendantly, this way, if you are caught, you have a cop out lol!

blah blah blah, now im done trying to sound intelligent

sounds like a fair point. if anything it would be increasing safety as it would be easier for people behind to see that you're breaking ;)

thats my argument as i find a lot of knobs in cars don't see me until theyre up my arse! until i get some red neons however i am using blue, oops aha!! but im not gonna use them on the road until i have red :)

plus, does anyone know where i can get some good red neons, as half of the ones i have seen are rubbish, also, if you hate neons, then dont just say all neons are crap.

heres mine at the moment, not very exiting: notice my custom leds for lighting up the helmet compartment too! :p

The cheapest place to buy neons is ebuyer.com, about £2.50 a pair ;). I just fitted some to my van today, they're inside the amber light bar so the sign section lights up when the sidelights are on. Red at the rear, white to the front

IMO strapping a pair of neons to the bottom of your ped is a bit naff. Though I'm ashamed to admit that I used to have some blue led's on my runner all those years ago when I was 17

    :emb:

Around that time I also bought my mate a birthday present of some colour changing led tubes, they were pretty smart. Once fitted at a touch of the remote you could change the whole bike from blue to red to green to purple to white to yellow to orange etc etc!
They were quite pricey at £40 though

Infact for a while I even had some crappy LED tubes on my old 50

Also forgot to say - from what I remember, reflective tape also counts as lights. So blue scotchlite is a no-no :p

must admit im a bit of a sucker for suttle lighting on a scooter, say under some mesh or something , as long as it goes with the paint job,

but those tubes on your old 50 just kill it badly :msn1:

    seriously man they are horrible

Yup I did some chavvy mods to that thing (4yrs ago!), including painting an orange stripe down the side of the airbox and this stereo:

sc-bk the first pics of the gilera bike are nice, but the old 50 looks horrible haha!!! really naff.

but thats part of the fun i suppose!

The ebuyer neons are fairly cheap and are easily broken if dropped. It's the same neons that are being sold on ebay etc for 2/3 times the price!

Infact there was someone buying the ebuyer neons, chopping off the pc plug then selling them on as "scooters neons" for £20! :wtf:

Not much to see but here's the ones fitted yesterday inside my recovery lightbar, click for full size

Also got loads of LED worklights, strobe lights, power sockets, extra battery, camera + screen, heater, all sorts. This aint a van forum so PM if you're wanting to know more

If you need any help wiring anything up just ask, I've had plenty of experience!

i may need help wiring but haven't had any problems so far, just need to get some fuses sorted so i don't burn out everything again.

i fancy some proper waterproof shockproof flexible led strips, but finding them is proving difficult!

why not get some rly massive neons all the way down the bottom of ur van!! would look great *or really bad*
